PlayStation Home to Get a Lot More ‘Social’

03/12/2010 Written by Anthony Severino

PlayStation Home has always been a social experience. PlayStation 3 owners meet up in Home to do everything from chatting to dancing to planning a few rounds of their favorite game. Soon, you’ll be able to communicate with your social networks right from the comfort of PlayStation 3′s very own Home.

Speaking today at GDC, Sony told a room filled with developers that tools are now available that will allow users to update their Twitter and Facebook accounts with the accomplishments they’ve achieved in PlayStation Home. Once you’ve achieved something specific set by the developer, such as a high score, you would be able to have that announced upon your Twitter timeline or your Facebook wall.

Sounds like a great way to further PlayStation Home’s social networking ambitions, but would you really use it? Chime on in below in the comments section.

Wasn’t Home orignally suposse to have the own social website back when it was shown off when it first came out? Anyway this is a cool idea will be intrested to see how this turns out.

We already have that with FaceBook on the XMB and I don’t use it… Since these updates take bandwidth away from gameplay online to update those social sites every few min etc… Not really interested.

And most of the Home Community want real Social interaction on those sites by using the browser to update those sites but with the limits on the browser currently on the PS3 not being supported since it is a “NetScape” derivative created for Sony and its mobile devices including the PS3 it has limited usefulness…

I hardly log into Home so even if I do link my Twitter and Facebook accounts it probably won’t update much. They need to integrate it into more regular games like Uncharted 2 and Blur.

Still waiting on my Trophy room…….

I would definitely participate, though still in ‘Beta’ and to many lacking various critical features to enable it’s success, I continue to participate in Home activities, explore and acquire new ‘virtual’ spaces and items in hopes at a later date, Sony will perhaps adopt a more open model so Home participants can share, trade with each other etc.

I might have missed it- wasn’t a facebook inclusion supposed to appear on the XMB?

    hello …

humm, i don’t know if i’ll use this feature though, i tend to puchlish almost everything of FB! ;)

what i really want on HOME would be the ability to play our own music & videos off our personal spaces & share them with everyone that are invited.

what if we could also have some mini series, games trailers, music samples, even an arcade machine in the perso space!

add more games with same or better quality as Sodium One … i need to do the last update!

    see ya around

    cheers!
