Naughty Dog: No Jak & Daxter PS3 Would be a “Shame”
When Naughty Dog introduced themselves to PlayStation, they brought us Crash Bandicoot. The company moved on from that property after the PS1 era, debuting their next IP, Jak & Daxter. Then, after the PS2, Naughty Dog tried their hand with the PS3. And with that, they introduced one of the best series of the last decade: Uncharted. But, will the company ever return to Jak & Daxter, the duo that ultimately put them in the spotlight?
Recently, Joystiq caught up with Evan Wells, co-president of Naughty Dog. The topic of discussion was mostly Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, however talks turned to Jak & Daxter.
Yeah, it’s hard to say. It’s hard to admit that would be in our past, because we definitely still have a real soft spot in the heart for the franchise. And I, in my fantasy, would love to be able to have the resources to be able to tackle that project. But, right now, Uncharted is sort of the focus of the studio for DLC. Maybe we could go to Jak and Daxter as the next project. Maybe we stick with Uncharted [laughs]. Maybe we come up with a new IP. It’s tricky to be able to tackle all of those at once. Right?
We don’t have the resources. So, we’re gonna have to choose our battles. I’m not sure whether Jak and Daxter will win that battle. Like you were saying, though, with trying to find a partner to work with us on the PSP version of Uncharted, I think it would be a shame if there weren’t a Jak and Daxter for the PS3 generation. So, if we can’t find a partner for one of those, then maybe we’re going to have to find a budget ourselves. [laughs]

i’d hope naughty dog plays a roll in a jax and daxter game , if its not done right than don’t do it. they already have the uncharted engine one of the best engines out there. use it ofr a game like jax and daxter , platformers are a dead genre no one really does , which is why racthet and clank have done so well.
Uncharted 3 next, plox.
As much as I love Uncharted, I think I would rather see Naughty Dog make a PS3 Jak & Daxter game next. It’s been so long since we have seen a game that can rival the Ratchet and Clank series for humor and great gameplay and I loved Jak & Daxter on the PS2. I wouldn’t want anyone else to handle the job just because I know the caliber of game that Naughty Dog can create and I know they would put every ounce of effort into a game in the franchise that made them huge. So please, Naughty Dog, give me a J&D PS3 title…then go to work on Uncharted 3.
Jack and Daxter on the PS3 would be awesome! I loved the games on the PS2 and would love to see them return.
I want a jak and daxter collection if their not going to do jak 4, I love those games.
I admit it would be awesome, but I think it’s a little too late into the game and ND is already into deep with the Uncharted series and doing quite well. I honestly think the best is yet to come for Uncharted, and after one blockbuster that wins EVERY SINGLE AWARD , you know there’s (another) sequel coming right away!
Jak & Daxter > rachet & clank. Come on ND make a new Jak game because Jak & Daxter games are awesome

Just like the guy above, I would like a Jak and Daxter collection, before they release Jak 4 or the next Uncharted. I have only played Jak 2 so it would be great to play the others. Jak 2 was one of my favorite ps2 games, by the way.
oh man your missing out all 3 Jak’s were good. Needless to say I played all 3. Why aren’t SONY’s studios working on more than 1 IP. Fund out more resources SONY, so that studios like Naughty Dog, Insonmiac, Santa Monica, and Media Molecule can make more than 1 IP every 1-2 years!
A consoles life is short, and since mostly all third party companies are strickly multiplatform, you have your first party studios to heavily rely on.
I think ND should make a Jak and Daxter game for the PS3, I’ve been dieing to play an J&D game for the PS3, and i’ve played Uncarted and it was good. But now it’s time for a new J&D. I have everygame and I liked all of them. So I think it would be a very good idea.
i would absolutely love a jak and daxter on ps3 made by naughty dog, jak and daxter the lost frontier made by a different company was complete crap, i broke it the day i got it i was so disgusted by it. i went back to jak 3 and was happy since. all jak and daxters by naughty dog looked and played great on the weak ps2. to use the ps3 for another jak and daxter would be amazing, not to mention absolutely beautiful. the would probably sell more copies of the next jak and daxter than both uncharteds if they focused on it
beutiful open world, third-person shooter in the future with all kind of space ships, vehicles, flying boards, and bike type vehicles that can take me anywhere in that area. with a sidekick that can ass. you a.i. or multiplayer coop. running from patrols, monsters and gangs.
flying through future cities firing cool out of this world weapons, gadgets and and rocking fly space suites.
to bad Naughty Dog can’t make a open world game with their quality of graphics. and they know jak and daxter would have to be open world game. they don’t have the resources for such a huge game. or do they.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Make a J&D for PS3!!!!! I would buy it in a second!! That was such a fun series and is why I got a PS2 in the first place. Couldn’t rationalize it until then.
