MGS: Peace Walker Sneaks in US Release Date, Limited Edition PSP
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is being heavily anticipated by the PSP crowd. The title was originally referred to as Metal Gear Solid 5, and it definitely shows with its large emphasis on story and the series hallmark gameplay. Peace Walker is set to be one the best PSP titles of all time, with Sony certainly trying to make sure that gamers everywhere know that.
The US release date for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, has been confirmed through a press release. Peace Walker will land on both PSP and PSPgo on June 18th 2010. Scott Steinberg, vice president of product marketing for SCEA, had this to say on the title.
“Konami’s METAL GEAR SOLID franchise commands a massive fan base and we saw an amazing opportunity to create synergy with the METAL GEAR SOLID franchise and bring a console-quality gaming experience to the PSP system. Kojima Productions is renowned for its ability to create incredible original storylines and intense gameplay experiences; that is no different with METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER.”
Along with it’s release, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will also receive a limited edition PSP bundle. The bundle will include a “Spirited Green” PSP-3000, the first time that color has appeared in North America. Along with the newly colored PSP, the Peace Walker bundle will feature the following:
- METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER game on UMD – METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER marks the return of the world-renowned stealth-action series. Hand-crafted by series creator Hideo Kojima, the all-new sequel delivers an original game design, story, and scenario as it picks up where METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER for the PlayStation®2 system leaves off
- PlayStation Network downloadable movie voucher (U.S. residents only; title to be announced)
- 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo – Leverages the PSP system’s multimedia functionality by storing photos, music, videos, and game saves
The bundle will also include free in-game content, such as the “Camouflage Uniform with FOX logos and Stealth Gun feature”. Both of those extras will be unlocked early in the game. Like all PSP-3000 bundles, this one will cost you $199.99. So if you’re likely to be a new PSP owner, June is the time to get one.
