Guerrilla’s Games‘ Killzone franchise has dominated the shooting genre since the release of Killzone 2, which tapped into the PlayStation 3′s capabilities and demonstrated the true potential of the console. However, Guerrilla believe they have not yet “hit the limit” with Sony’s system.
Speaking in the latest issue of Edge, Guerrilla reckons it still hasn’t showcased the PS3′s power fully. The co-founder of Guerrilla, Hermen Hylst stated:
We’re satisfied that we demonstrated the potential of the hardware.
But we realise that further optimisations are always possible and that we haven’t hit the limit yet.
Could these statements be hinting at Killzone 3′s existence? We can only speculate for now, but it can’t be too long now, right?
That game does look pretty amazing, even with games like Uncharted 2 and God of War III out these days. I’d love to see what they could do with Killzone 3.
killzone really isnt even that big of a franchise… theres wayyyy better games out then a killzone
I can’t quite put my finger on it but killzone just really didn’t do it for me like other fps’s I’ve played before. The graphics looked pretty good, some levels/scenes more than others, but overall it was just ok to me. The bad voice acting didnt help, and that annoying pos Rico didnt either. Im looking forward on how they improve on KZ3 and how itll turn out.
Guerrilla just needs to take the engine they made KZ with on the PS3 optimize it and then come out with new IP. A different FPS shooter based on a different storyline.
In what ways did Killzone 2 “dominate the shooting genre”?
Sales wise? No
Online population? No
Superior gameplay? No (imo)
It was underrated for what it was but it certainly never dominated the shooting genre..
With that being said, the MP was fun for about a month and it got stale. I agree with SPD55: make a new IP.
Killzone 2 was (is) my favorite Online game… To me, everything felt “heavy” and for lack of better words… real.
It’s NOT perfect (but what game is) and there are a few issues that really need to be addressed.
…and after 400+ hours, I am beyond ready for the next one!! LOL!!
I never understood the hate on killzone… no other shooter is as revolutionary as it.
Game modes seamlessly translate to other game modes.
The guns have a realistic weight and recoil.
The story is quite good despite some bad characters.
Do you want Killzone a Call of Duty copy?? Call of Duty does nothing revolutionize except try risqe things in the story mode… like ‘No Russian’. It was an excuse to publisize the game.
@TurKadir20
i totally agreed with you, i never understand why some people hate this game,it most real relastict first person shooter i ever played
I would still put Killzone 2 in the Top 5 in graphics on the PS3 so if they can improve even more on Killzone 3 I’m sure it will look amazing.
are u kidding me…most realistic?!?!?!?! the controls feel sluggish…not real…this game got so boring.. id get tons of kills without ever aiming and just using my initial crosshair…after a few weeks this got very boring and routine like…that and the massive spawn camping
PLEASE don’t bring up controls because this game gives you the option to make the controls more sensitive so then sluggish isn’t an issue. Maybe if people would have really put some time into the game then they would have really seen how it was/is the best looking PS3 game and wouldn’t have concentrated on the one aspect of the game that you can modity. The MP was fun but it seems like those games that are running aren’t as varied as I would have like. Not because you don’t have options but everybody on there are playing one map or senerio, kinda wish that when I search for a game instead of the eveyone doing the same thing, they’d switch it up and play some of the new maps.
hahaha, got to love piggybackers, one person expresses his dislike for a CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED game and then you get a few others to piggyback on that other persons statement and say the same thing. “Monkey say, other monkey say too”
