In the most recent episode of PlayStation Pulse, the bi-weekly program that highlights PlayStation games, revealed a Top 10 list for the games gamers downloaded most onto their PlayStation Portable, for 2010. Leading the ranks is a 13 year old game that just won’t die.
According to the list, the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy VII tops the list. Coming in at a close second is its brother, Final Fantasy VIII. Other notables include God of War: Chains of Olympus, Gran Turismo and LittleBigPlanet.
Top 10 PSP Store Downloads for 2010
This just goes to show the unrelenting admiration gamers have towards this game, which originally released in 1997. Perhaps a full remake is not necessary, considering the level of demand the original is still creating. Did you purchase any of these titles? Post your responses in the comments section below.
Is anyone surprise?
@TheHater
Nope!! I have friends who aren’t even that big of RPG fans who have bought FF VII & VIII off the PSN just to have them.
Thankfully I still have my original copies. Bwuhahahahaha!
I wouldn’t say the remake would be unecessary. I’m sure that an HD upgrade would sell like crazy, as well. Square Enix would be stupid NOT to capitalize on that demand.
I want to know when FF IX will be out. That was a good one too.
Final Fantasy 7 is completely overrated.

Oh my god, did anyone else here feel all that nerd rage? I’m sorry that my judgement was clouded by blocky graphics and a story that flip flops more than it stays on track. Toots, you are a hype follower, and cry at any type of negative criticism. Kill yourself.
@Crueltea
u just sound bitter towards a game
Come on Square Enix; just remake it, there are high demands for this game
Actually I’m fairly certain this has held the #1 spot since last E3 when it was put up.
so I just picked up FFXIII. It is my first Final Fantasy and I have to say I am very glad I decided to pick it up (I never thought I would be able to get into a JRPG after a few bad experiences and so have stayed away from them for years). My question is…should I pick up Final Fantasy VII?? Is the experience completely different that I may not enjoy it? I have heard that diehard FFVII fans don’t really like FFXIII so I’m guessing they are very different, but I have also heard that VII is the best in the series…any input??
its been on the top ten since it released. bought it day one – I still have the original discs, but a scratch midway through disc one prevents me from playing past midgar with them, so I had to get the digital copy.
@Crueltea – sounds like someone couldn’t follow the story. it can be confusing, but if you pay attention and read, plus try to do some side quests, you have a slim chance of understanding. By the way – its kind of retarded to make fun of a game’s graphics that was made in 1997, and at the time won multiple awards for its ground breaking graphics.
@Tootergray – I’m not sure either, lately they’ve been posting PSOne games I’ve never even heard of… I really don’t understand their selection process on these games but maybe it has something to do with licensing issues? Legal bullshit will always set back progress whenever possible.
@Giese – for $10 I don’t really think you can go wrong – it is one of the all time classics, and will give you a solid 40 hours + of gameplay. i can’t name a better game for PSOne (maybe Castlevania SOTN, but thats a personal favorite). You have to keep in mind that its a decade old, so by today’s standards the gameplay is slow (its all active turn based), the graphics are dated looking, and story is full text. However, there is a great system for setting up your magic and abilities, a huge world to explore, tons of side quests, and a rich story with many twists and turns. Its the best in the series because in its prime it blew our freaking minds – right now its not going to be mind blowing, its going to feel like a PSOne game.
honestly crueltea, telling someone to “kill yourself” is completely uncalled for and whether you meant it as a joke or not it just isn’t funny and I think you should be kicked off this site for it
