The creator of God of War and founder of Eat Sleep Play, David Jaffe has long been torturing fans eager to play his next title, as he frequently teases info without giving any concrete details. Now the eccentric developer is talking about the future of his next game, before it’s even announced.
David Jaffe gave his opinion during the latest episode of Game Trailer’s Bonus Round about if DLC for games can expand upon a game’s story or experience. He then turned the focus to his upcoming game:
We absolutely will be doing DLC with our new game. But our new game, while it does have a story, that’s just not really sort of where its heart and soul is.
Just reveal the damn game already Jaffe… please?

Blah, blah, blah, David Jaffe.
Make with the game or get stepping.
Too much lead up and hype for whatever it is.
…and we see how Calling All Cars went, right?
(although I liked that game a lot, it was not as well received as I’m sure he would like, and then he disowns it???? have some fortitude man, stand by your games!)
Not much of a story? I’m developing not much of an interest.
theres really not much of a point in paying attention to his comments anymore until he says “My game is —blah blah blah —”
He should be putting as much work as he puts into being full of himself and hyping the ‘game with no name’ into spending time at the gym.
Fatty.
There has been some circulation about the next possible GOW. Could this, possibly, be his next project that ties into GOW somehow? It’s just a thought.
I think now a days they build games starting with the DLC abilities first.. and half of the time utilize a 100kb text file that costs $5 that unlocks something the games disk already contains. Is this really news that his next “unnamed title” will include DLC? I mean I can almost guarantee that every new game that comes out has the ability to have DLC. right?
i wouldnt even consider DLC anything of another game but just an add on .. twisted metal would be nice

Hoping for some info at E3 on his new game!
twisted metal would be awesome… thats where i got spectr from…twisted metal 2….is the best!
This is ridiculous, already talking DLC for a game that isn’t even announced?
This game better be QUALITY stuff man! Or else this DLC comment will come back to haunt him with ridicule that they spent less time on the game than they did with paid DLC content.

@Caphead – you can tell by the size of the file you download when you buy it. Culprits like Bioshock 2 can go eat it. Sometimes planning for DLC ahead of time is okay, as long as its not purposefully left out of the main game just to make more money later. My favorite DLC is by far from Gearbox with Borderlands – they outright said they were planning the Zombie Island, but it was clearly a large file that wasn’t on the disc, and ever since then each DLC has been worth the money and tailored to community response – so you know it wasn’t put together before the game released.
I do think its strange talking about DLC for a game that hasn’t been announced. What the hell do I care about DLC when I don’t even care about the game yet?? What are they doing planning DLC when they’re not far enough in development to announce the fact that they’re developing it?? Some developers are getting ridiculous with this, so I’m getting real picky about which ones I buy. Hopefully Gearbox doesn’t stray from the trend they’ve started.
