When Crysis was released a few years ago for PC, it set the bar for graphics incredibly high. Now developer Crytek is aiming to bring the same level of awe-inspiring visuals to consoles later this year with the eagerly anticipated sequel, Crysis 2. Speaking about the visuals, a member from the development team has stated that Crysis 2 will feature the best graphics you will ever witness.
A bold statement indeed. However, with the capabilities
and potential of the CryEngine, the graphical attributes of Crysis 2 will come into fruition when its released. The futuristic shooter’s executive producer Nathan Camarillo has told magazine publication PS3M that the visuals in Crysis 2 will blow gamers away.
We know [developing for PS3] is a big challenge, but we’re happy to accept it. The most important thing that Crysis taught us as a developer is that, while cinematic graphics and convincing gameplay will get you a lot of press and build strong interest before release – you shouldn’t count on that exclusively.
We’re aiming to set the graphical benchmark. Why would anyone not want to play a game with the best graphics they have ever seen, great gameplay, some engaging fiction, challenging AI, killer weaponry and a complete gaming experience like no other?
Crysis 2 will be set in New York and will be released before the 2010 calender year ends.

I know I will be watching this closely
I’m getting excited for this game but I don’t like to play a sequel to a game that I haven’t played, especially if the story is continued. So it would be great if they release the first one on ps3 as well. But if its a whole different story, I will get this game.
I want to see some of these graphics during e3!
I’m actually looking forward to this. Should be cool to see what they can do on the system.
The only downside for me is that this title is multiplatform and that could end badly for PS3 owners unless the stay true to what they say and push the system they are designing the game for. Which will mean 1080p for PS3 and 720p for 360. If they atleast take that in to the equation then I’ll be happy.
720p would be fine as long as it’s native 720p
@Natiej85
That’s what I’ve been saying about this game. Once it fails to deliver high end graphics, compared to first party titles, it will be the flame bait the 360 fanboys will need. I hate the PR this game gets.
I will have to keep an eye on this one!

I’ll wait till I actually see the damn thing to make the judgment.
So… it will be on 360? Is that possible?
hello …
yeah a new terrible benchmark tool
cheers!
It will be interesting to see if this game does set the benchmark for graphics. But it’s going to be a hard thing to do with the likes of Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 and GOW3 out on the PS3. It will also be interesting to see just how much more powerful the PS3 is compared to the 360 because if the game looks better than Uncharted 2 and GOW3 but looks the same on both platforms then that more powerful thing is a piece of horse shit.
I don’t see EA taking the risk of releasing a multiplat game with one version looking inferior than the other
I’d be a hell of a lot more interested in a game that was hyped as having great gameplay, a great story, and great characters – rather than graphics. Honestly, the wow factor wears off after the first couple of hours.
