Many fans of the Gran Turismo series often complain that the racer features “robotic” AI. Gran Turismo 5‘s creator has revealed that it won’t be the same case with the first full Gran Turismo title on the PS3, saying it’s more “human-like”.
When asked by PlayStation magazine publication PS3M if ‘robotic’ AI from previous installments has been improved on, Kazunori Yamauchi stated:
How close the AI can come to human lap times? That was the focus of development up until GT4. Now that has been successful to some degree, an attempt has been made to express more human-like behaviour in GT5.
Yamauchi previously said that Gran Turismo 5 is 90% complete and will utilize the PlayStation 3′s power as much as it can. But you don’t really care about that do you? You just want the damn release date, right?

nah ive waited so long now the release date is like a dream. So keep tweaking the game as much as you can.
People are always complaining about how this will never be released. I understand their argument and I do agree with their points but it’s the developers choice when to release the game so no point in complaining about it. The game will obviously sell when its released so until then I got plenty of games to hold me down.
So the graphics are “better than reality”, but the gameplay is “successful to some degree”?
@JackC8
No if you have payed any attention to the article you would know it says the AI in GT4 was succesful to some degree. Also it says AI in the title, not gameplay right?
Who cares when it releases, it’s coming sometime this year, that’s good enough for me. Because when it DOES release it will be the most awesome, most beautiful, most perfect game ever made and i will stop everything i’m doing at that time to go out and get it and then play it for days on end.
You can’t rush genius, Polyphony Digital can take as long as they want to make this game perfect.
yea JackC8 you understood that wrong
Yep, GT will rule the racing genre roost for a very long time once released – SIMPLE. AS. THAT!
you cant rush these things. rushing just means it wont be perfect. remember how people dont like incomplete games? well they are taking their time and this will be a complete game.
Can’t rush it? Lol its been over 5 years
hello …
i just hope they don’t put 2D sprites for the crowd, oh God know how i hated that
…
now we\ll have some other cars that will try to ram or push us out of track, so cool
.. i hope better ‘huma-like behaviour’ AI doesn’t imply kids-behaviour LOL!
Can’t wait, i’m already impressed by 3 things with the game:
1 – It got me hype
2 – It has really nice (OK more than nice) GFX
3 – It’s capacity of evolution (while not yet released!) …
cheers!
“it will be the most awesome, most beautiful, most perfect game ever made”
I hope you’re right ’cause I don’t know what will hapen if this game could not even reach 9/10 by games critics.
We will see…
As long as this game is taking to come out it’ll be pretty damn sad if it fails. I’m hoping it turns out good as i’m a fan of the series but the team focusing too much on things can probaly f things up in the long run.. Most games only take around 3 years or so from the starting stages to release.. GT5 is taking a good 5+ years……..
I might get this game, haven’t been to much into sim racing games
@Richy – I think in the demo (its been awhile but I have a vague memory of this) there are fully 3d people on the sidelines of the track. It would definitely be ridiculous to have such incredible graphics on the cars and then 2d sprites next to them…
I dont really care any more if its being rushed. Its been 5 freakin years, you gotta give it to us sometime! and please dont make that sometime in another year or 4! for the love of christ just give us a release date and quit making me hurt inside.
