Sega Nixes San Francisco Studios

04/04/2010 Written by Thomas Williams

Rumors broke late this week that Sega was closing down their San Francisco Studios, the developers formerly known as ‘Secret Level’. With the way the economy has been, we have bad news for anyone out there: The rumors are true. R.I.P. Secret Level.

For those of you who don’t know of Secret Level, they developed Iron Man: The Video Game 1 and 2, along with Golden Axe: Beast Rider. If you click on the links, you can tell that their two last releases have a score below 50 on Metacritic. Fans of Iron Man are worried about the sequel, even though the team has promised major improvements. Also, not to worry– the team has already finished Iron Man 2: The Video Game and is still on par for release before the film on May 7.

It certainly sucks to see any team of developers go the way of the dodo, even if they had a rocky track record. Here’s to hoping that everyone from the ex-team finds a job as soon as possible.

We have a lot of studios in NC that could definitely use their expertise, hope they make it over here….or better yet create their own studio and make PSN exclusive titles!!

ummm…I don’t think we need any of their “expertise” given the shovelware that has come out of their studio. Of course, I’m not completely against giving someone a second chance. Maybe they would excel if they went off individually to different studios.

Haha well it looks like SEGA is trying to crack down on this

Fame Girl are you the one who was on the Tester?

Too bad the economy isn’t doing better, or the developers of crappy games could make more crappy games.
