EA Resurrecting Rugby Franchise

04/07/2010 Written by Matt Baker

There hasn’t been a rugby game on consoles since 2008. EA Sports created nearly all the previous rugby titles, so it comes to no surprise that the company is working on a newly announced rugby game which is currently in development for multiple platforms.

Rugby 2012 has been announced, and the game is being developed by HB Studios, (who have worked on multiple EA Sports titles) who will work closely with EA Sports to publish the game for current generation consoles. Rugby 2012 will be the first rugby game to hit this console generation for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The last rugby title was Rugby 2008, published by EA Sports, which was released towards the end of 2007 and ultimately became one of the top selling titles in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Rugby 2012 is scheduled for late 2011, which ties in with the 2011 Rugby World Cup being hosted in New Zealand.
