‘Greatest Football Player of All time’ To Grace NCAA 2011 Cover

04/11/2010 Written by Thomas Williams

Every year, EA Sports puts forth a valiant effort to choose an ex-college football player to grace the cover of their highly respected NCAA Football series. This year one of the best, if not the best college football player of all time has been chosen for cover duties. The man who made Chuck Norris himself back down. The man, the myth, the legend…

…your cover star for NCAA Football 2011 is none other than Tim Tebow.

So why Tim Tebow you ask? Well, unless you’ve been living under an extremely large boulder for the past four years, let me remind you: Maybe it has to do with the fact the he won not one, but two national championships while at Florida. Or maybe because he won the Heisman Trophy..as a sophomore, being the first to ever do so. Or the fact the he broke the SEC’s record for most rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns in a single season. Even though Tim Tebow could flame out in the NFL, many people will still consider him to be one of the greatest college football players of all time, so it just makes sense that EA would chose him as the cover athlete for this season.

Are you man enough to take on Tim Tebow? After all, if the almighty Chuck Norris couldn’t take him down, what chance do you have?

NCAA Football 2011 hits the PS3 and PS2 the July.

    I must have been living under a boulder for the past four years, because I don’t even know who he is, let alone what championships he won. But then again, some people don’t know who Zidane is. Or maybe its because I’m not a fan of football, which is why I didn’t know who Tim Tebow is.

    consider yourself lucky

  4. How is Tebow a douche? Because he doesn’t do drugs, drive drunk, or get arrested like many other college athletes do?

    Is is it crybabies just being anal hurt about Tebow beating that ass for four years?

    A Heisman winner, 2 Championships, and he is not even a skilled QB.

    Suck on it morons.

  5. LOL @ Nosferatu King

    Tim is a great guy all around! Hopefully the NFL won’t change the guy…I don’t consider the guy the greatest college football player of all time, most of the press does though.

    Tim Tebow is not the greatest by a long shot, great maybe, apart of great teams, Yes. I don’t dislike the guy cause he has great character but your seriously reach with that title. I thought that there was gonna be a game with all the greatest college athletes in it and the greatest of them all was gonna be on the cover, kinda like that 2K game that came out for the Pros. Out of the players that played in the 2009 season he was probably most desiring of the cover. Along with McCoy, Bradford and that running back that won the Heisman this year. What they should start doing is just using the Heisman Trophy winner and be down with it, kinda like a package deal for the winner.

    And Chuck Norris is an old man, this isn’t the 80′s that dude is a has been. If you put him up against 20 or 30 or maybe even 40something Chuck Norris, he’d get his ass handed to him in a paper sack.

  8. Tebow is not the greatest college player of all time. I believe that honor goes to the running back I based on myself in Road to Glory mode in NCAA Football 2010. And to top it off, my running back is PRO-CHOICE.

    HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT TEBOW!?

  9. A great player? Yes. The greatest of all time? No. Maybe if he had of beaten Alabama in the SEC Championship and went on to win the National Championship then he would be in the discussion.

  10. @smokey vols

    As a Volunteer fan, I’m sure most people understand why you of all people would be upset with the article.

    Tennessee hasn’t relevant in the last ten years. Perhaps next year? Lol.

    I would place Tebow in the discussion, along with:

    1. Charlie Ward
    2. Bo Jackson
    3. Brian Bosworth
    4. Marcus Allen

  11. @ Nosferatu King.

    Yeah..I’m from TN, so I’m a Vols fan too. Tebow made us look dumb plenty of times, lol. There isn’t much hope for this season seeing as how we have a new Coach and all. Oy.

  12. @Nosferatu King

    Upset? It seems my your the only one who is getting upset here. I even gave Tebow his due and called him a great player, which I might add is alot coming from a Vols fan lol. If Tebow had of beaten Alabama in the SECCG and won the NC then only could he be considered one of the greats, but that didn’t happen. I wish him well in the NFL, maybe whoever drafts Eric Berry will get Tebow in a later round and they can play on the same team, that would be something to see.

    @Thomas Williams

    Didn’t know you were from TN! Go Vols!

  13. Wow Class…I used to have a lot of respect for you, but to call him a douche is childish. Have fun with the Cubs sucking year after year.

    Anyway, now that that is out of the way. I am obviously biased going to UF and being a huge fan of Gator football. I think Tebow is one of the greatest of all time. There is no way to say any player is the best ever though. That is impossible. Everyone is going to be biased in some way and have a different opinion. I will of course be getting this game (like I do every year), but a Gator on the cover will make it better. :D

    @Nate:

    That wouldn’t always work. If the Heisman winner is a Sophomore, then they aren’t allowed to to be on the cover. When playing NCAA sports, you can’t accept any money.

    @Thomas:
    You put a the right after SEC’s, just thought I’d let you know. :)

  14. not a fan of tim tebow
    not
    a
    fan

  15. @Gatorjv

    Was wondering when you would comment lol. I will make another comment on Tebow: I really like how he wore his Christianity on his shoulder and let everyone know he was a man of God. That is the greatest thing about him to me and I wish alot more people would do that.

  16. claass21 says:

    Oh just because I don’t like your boy…

    And yes, the Cubs will suck this year, and the next, and the next, and the next, for eternity.\

    Who would like to talk about Tebow’s future in the NFL?

  17. Has nothing to do with not liking him. I know plenty of people that dislike him. The fact that you call someone a douche for no reason is where I find it childish. I’d love to talk about his future in the NFL; but I can’t because I have no idea how it is going to play out. I would love to see him succeed as an NFL QB, but I don’t think it is going to happen that way. Worst comes to worst and he will make 30 million dollars and not be a superstar. I think he is going to be an average player in NFL….but oh wait, since he’s my boy maybe I should put he will be the best NFL player of ALL TIME!!!! :P

    For the record, I think the Cubs are going to be pretty good this year. I just said that to take a swipe back at you. I don’t follow the Cubs though….so I have no idea how if they would be good enough to win a world series.

  18. claass21 says:

    I apologize for and retract my original statement. It will be interesting to see who picks him up, how long they let him sit, and if they can properly use him.

  19. Hey man, I wasn’t trying to argue with you or anything. I just hate when people call a good guy something uncalled for. Same with some of my friends here at UF calling the FSU players names. I understand the rivalry and dislike FSU as much as anyone, but respect the players. When NCAA comes out this year claass, we will have to play each other. I still have you on my list. No hard feelings I hope.

  20. claass21 says:

    Yeah I know what you are saying. And yes, we definitely will have to!

  21. he’s certainly the best college football player of all time. anybody who thinks otherwise is just biased.
