It’s no secret that night racing in the Gran Turismo franchise is a much requested feature amongst series fans. The atmosphere night racing brings in is truly unique, and fortunately, as we already know it will be featured in various tracks, it will be included in the Nürburgring track for Polyphony Digital’s upcoming racing simulator.
The recent Nürburgring 24 Hours circuit which was carried out by the game’s creator, which also revealed the track will be included in the title, has confirmed night racing will be featured in the Nürburgring track for the forthcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive.
Our man took the controls of a Sony PlayStation 3 to sample the complete Nürburgring 24 Hours circuit – for the first time in video game history. And he even got to try the new night racing feature.
@ Zak
old news
Is it an actual 24 hours race inside the game? Surely not.
whats next “GT5 has weather system”
@ zak
24 Hours… anyone in their right mind would assume there would be a good portion of the race taking place at night…
@smokey
i wouldnt hold it against them. Dont think ii would be too surprising seeing a 24hr race
not trying to pick a fight, but some of you people on this site need to be more considerate. so what if it’s old? not everyone checks everyday for gaming news, and this might be new for them. either way, the editors on this site have no obligation to write anything other than what they want to write. if you don’t like it, don’t come here. But if you do come here, have the decency to be polite.
@ Smokey – Yes, it’s a 24 hour race, there a plethora of these races in GT4 (Endurance Races), there are other extremely long races that go by 1000KM, 500KM etc… also. But yes, it’s a full 24 hour duration races. So, I wouldn’t be surprised to see as many or more in GT5.
For the rest, they’ve been pretty scant on verified news coming straight from Yamauchi-san’s mouths. Simply because Yamauchi and Co have been busy. Anything _confirmed_ is worthy of reporting. If you don’t like it, just don’t read the article…it’s not like the title doesn’t tell you exactly what to expect.
@thoailong87
Wow thank you, finally someone said it, I was beginning to lose faith in humanity there..
This is not a pay site, no one is forcing you to come here… There is plenty of news articles on here that don’t interest me and I simply don’t click on it – I don’t read it, simple as that.
I have been a daily visitor of PSLS since day one and I don’t see any comparable sites to this in terms of quality of content and update rate. Please show some decency to those who work to bring us together in one great website.
And night racing in GT5 is going to be awesome.
I’m tired of waiting for this game!!!!!!!!!!!!Sony needs to hurry up with it.
@perseus and the other asshat
why such negativity over this article. if this is old news for you, then congratulations you officially have no life and check gaming news 24/7. the rest of us may not and this is certainly news for me. and like someone else already stated, if you dont like the article no one is forcing you to read it, much less comment.
This game has been in development for 8 years. It better have night, day, mid-afternoon, rain, snow, sleet, hail, and a tornado chase a la the movie “Twister” thrown in.
how the hell is this news. this was officially announced ages ago.
@ Blakkternalx520 : Polyphony Digital is the developer behind the Gran Turismo franchise, not Sony.
@ Zak: No problem, keep the news coming. Regardless of what the children say, anything confirmed from Yamauchi’s mouth, is most definitely news worthy.
@ FiftyQuid: Gran Turismo 5 was originally announced at E3 in 2006. That’s 4 years, we’re closing in on 5 now.
@SmokeyPSD: Were you expecting something different from the title? I mean, it’s pretty obvious where this article was going.
Yes its a real time 24 hour race. They did it in the GT titles on PS2, you can leave it on auto pilot for a while and come back to it when you want. You might be able to make a pit stop and change drivers in this one too. But YES, for anyone wondering, its a real 24 hours, as in you start the race at 3:15 am, you will not complete it until 3:15 am the next day.
