Don’t feel like shelling out 30 dollars for the second half of Sony’s Move setup? You may be in luck as it has been confirmed that a PlayStation 3 DualShock controller can be used instead.
Sony’s Anton Mikhailov has confirmed that the Sony’s Navigation controller will be interchangeable with the existing Dualshock 3. It’s just the left half of the existing Dualshock.
Although it may be a little awkward and it certainly not as attractive as new Nav, it is certainly just as effective. Don’t worry though, Sony didn’t rip apart a DualShock just to make the controller. No existing controllers were harmed to bring you this information.

That’s pretty sweet, seems like it will be awkward to hold with one hand, but we shall find out. That’s extra cool though, I can save the money and get an extra Move wand
Well that will save some money initially. But it is awkward to hold it in one hand so many will end up getting the sub-nav controller.
Thats a little bizarre, but pretty cool.
Awesome. I’m always broke, so this should be very handy.
I agree with Zak!
nope, its too hard to constantly hold it that way. Looks like we’ll have to get the navigational controller
Hehe, that’s neat for sure!
Way too awkward, I am going to be buying the Navigation controller.
this could work like co-op, someone moves the character with the dualshock and someone else shoots with the move(like the LBP demo on GDC).
And I wonder if it will work the other way around like using the nav controler instead of a dualshock, like for driving games or really simple(control-wise) games.
I’ve seen Capcom play the PS3 this way and it’s as stupid. I’d rather spend a tenner on a sub-controller.
hmmm… it depends on how its oriented when you hold it. If anyone has played high velocity bowling, it has a surprisingly unique way to hold the controller that works fairly well. If we can hold it like that and it works correctly, then I’m fine with it.
