Sorcery Casts a Spell Upon You

06/20/2010 Written by Zak Islam

The PlayStation 3 exclusive title, Sorcery, was announced as one of the first full games developed solely for the PlayStation Move at this year’s E3. The game will be developed by The Workshop and is based upon an apprentice sorcerer. There will be combinable spells which would work perfectly by flicking your wand – the PlayStation Move controller – and here’s the E3 presentation to show what the game is all about.

Sorcery is currently scheduled for a release sometime in 2011.

This game showcases what Motion Control can bring to games. it is not just for getting off the couch and doing sports or excersize although to use the Move you will have to do something a lot of games don’t get you to do. Stand up and Move your hands to play a game, Wii not withstanding. So this game will sell a lot to the casual if not some hardcore gamers.

Motion control is here to stay, gamers just have to decide which version they will get behind, Kinect will have to adapt and bring a different style of controller because the “body as controller” has been done before, just ask Harmonix. The PS2 game Anti-Grav, developed by Harmonix, even touts “Your body is the controller” on the box. So we will see if Kinect will have an impact on gaming or not. Most PlayStation gamers know that what M$ claims as new is just rehashed from what PS2 brought to the gaming table in 2003.

  4. I think it’s a nice showcase. Now they just need the presentation.

It’s not the kind of game I usually play, but I might have to get it anyway. It looks like they’ve really put a lot of thought into how to use the Move effectively. And it looks fun!

looks cool, makes me think what’s gonna happen when insomniac makes a game for this controller.

  9. As long as theres a lot more spells, I’d give it a try. Looks like it could be fun – still looks like its for the kids though.

A serious move mover I think. Shows that party games are not always where the move needs to be. You can just be sitting down to play.
