Sony: Move & 3D Combination is “What Future of Gaming Will Feel Like”

06/22/2010 Written by Zak Islam

During Sony’s E3 press conference, they put a lot of emphasis on how the PlayStation Move and 3D will create the most immersive and interactive gaming experience found on any home console. Sony has always been at the forefront of innovation, trying to bring new and exciting technology into consumer’s homes. Thanks to Sony’s ambition, we’re getting a sneak peek at the future of gaming a bit early.

During an interview with PlayStation UK, SCE’s president of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida said combining PlayStation Move and 3D gives players a glimpse of “the future of gaming”.

PlayStation Move’s greatest strengths are its responsiveness and accuracy in tracking players’ movement in the 3D gaming space, both of which are crucial to create an immersive gaming experience.

In addition, once PlayStation Move is combined with stereoscopic 3D, as shown in The Fight, EyePet Move Edition, Tumble and Killzone 3, your sense of immersion is heightened to a level never experienced with any system before.

This powerful combination is unique to PlayStation and shows what the future of gaming will feel like when you are totally immersed in your visual and physical senses at the same time.

The PlayStation Move will be competitively priced at $49.99 alone or at $99.99 as part of a bundle with a Move controller, the PlayStation Eye and Sports Champions. As for 3D, that’s a different story, as a 3D TV, more specifically, Sony’s Bravia 3D range, ranges in the thousands of dollars. Start saving now, folks.

Too bad not a lot of people will experience this because they either don’t want/have a MOVE or don’t have a 3D TV

  3. Blkant says:

  4. TheHater says:

    hello …

i don’t feel this is for the current gen… i would have prefer a glowing glove to the wand, yet we have to start somewhere … so yes i wish that for the next gen – we have a whole wall panel of 3D / glass-less display, whether it be like a hologram, via a projector or a bigger than 200″ monitor…

with a MOVE glove instead of / or added to the wand, it will add precision to a ‘MS-Kinnect’ like gameplay for will still give the impression of no controller.

I want to MOVE in 3D & i want to perform fatalities in hyper-HD ;)

    cheers!

  7. lol, dream on Richy2k9, that is probably 2 generations away, just fyi.

I would also like to add, that there is absolutely no reason why Move couldn’t also add in Kinect like capture (ok, patents and massive development costs/time – Kinect was in research for at least 3 years…) Kinect uses the same technology with the camera/web cam, but has gone the smart road by specifying ‘what’ the technology senses. Tracking the whole body for movements will take a lot more processing power than this gen can handle, fluently. The military has been on it for years, even just for self driving cars, billions spent each year… a $300 console wont do it :) lol
