Sony Computer Entertainment of America has today announced that the popular PlayStation Network digital comics service on the PlayStation Portable will welcome the much-demanded DC Comics.

A selection of over 80 DC titles can be downloaded from PlayStation Store priced from $0.99 to $2.99 per issue that include Batman: Hush, Green Lantern: Rebirth, Fables: Legends in Exiles and Planetary: All Over the World and Other Stories, as well as comics that are exclusive to PlayStation Network such as Free Realms, God of War, Resistance, and Superman/Batman.

In addition to the availability of the new comics, DC Comics is offering users a free 10-page preview of the 700th issue of Superman available on the PlayStation Network digital comics.

Jim Lee, DC Comics Co-Publisher said:

Outside of my work as a comic book creator and Co-Publisher, I’m an avid gamer,” said Jim Lee, DC Comics Co-Publisher. “Making our comics available through Sony’s PlayStation Network digital comics offers a perfect opportunity for us to reach a new, different kind of reader.

Susan Panico, senior director, PlayStation Network, SCEA stated:

As we remain dedicated to providing users with the most comprehensive entertainment experience, we’re excited to be working with DC Comics to expand our growing library of comics and further solidify PlayStation Network as the premier entertainment destination.

Remember, the only way to access these digital comics is for your PSP to be on the latest firmware (6.20).

  1. I was wondering what took them so long. Not a fan of DC, but good for them.

  2. Why in the blue hell would you put Marvel Comics media in the above image for a DC announcement.

    Lol. C’mon, PSLS.

Awesome. The comic service must be doing well for itself then. As in the press it seemed the only way that DC was going to come onboard was if sales were the tempt them.

  4. I thought the comic reader would be downloadable on the PS3 by now! would have been a welcome PSN Plus feature.

  5. Even if the reader wasn’t there, just the ability to download on my PS3, which is faster than the PSP (of course) and transfer it like I do games.
