Final Fantasy XIV Release Date Announced

06/30/2010 Written by Corey Schwanz

In what appears to be the quickest turnaround time for releasing a Final Fantasy game ever, Square Enix has announced two release dates for Final Fantasy XIV Online.

Square Enix has just announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be hitting the PS3 in March of 2011, while the PC version will land on September 22nd of this year. Square Enix has also announced that the game will have a $12.99 monthly subscription fee with up to seven more characters costing approximately $3 per addition.

While this pricing scheme is currently set for the PC version of the game and the PS3 price is not known, it will most likely follow this pricing scheme. A collector’s edition was also announced for PC, and while it comes with a plethora of extras, it is not known if it will also come to the console version of the game.

I just hope for the PS plus users get a discount if not hopfully it is at 15.00 a year/month. only time will tell tho. I cant wait for this game.

  2. Yet another 2011 PS3 “exclusive”! Joins… Killzone 3, Twisted Metal, Motorstorm Apocalypse, and more!

Ugh, people like you just won’t go away. I suspect for a full year people will use PSN+ as a reason to hope for impossible discounts. Sony has nothing to do with Square’s pricing. Just ask MICROSOFT.

I got a problem with monthly fees. Even thou i love MMORPGs’ and FF.. i would never pay that much plus game cost. I rather play a free MMO and buy PREMIUM content than have to pay 15 to just play the game.

    Where is FFv13 and FFXV?

  5. If you don’t pay, you don’t play. Bottom line. Me, I’ll be getting this, and yes, I will pay. What surprises me is the fact that the playstation is doing really well with the eclusives.

  6. i have been really looking forward to getting this in 2010….. such a shame.

Seriously SONY? What happened to “The PS3 will be the only console you will be playing FFXIV on in 2010″ Yet another game slips release dates…I was really looking forward to this game and I do not want to play on the PC.

  8. I don’t think a computer is considered a console (I suppose I could be wrong). The collectors edition for of 14 for the PC is nice, and I pre-ordered that today. I still have it pre-ordered for the PS3, and I’ll get it next year. Either way, I’m satisfied that I’ll be able to play it in about two months, so the PS3 release date won’t kill me.

I’m also glad they didn’t raise the 12.99$/month price. @newozkar, while monthly fees aren’t anything great, games that require them usually (almost certainly) are top quality. On the other hand, games that are free, with or without premium content, are generally bland and repetitive and clones of every other popular MMO. There were some decent free ones, though…

In any case, I’m excited for 14 on both PC and, when it releases, PS3.

Why do we still call it an exclusive?! this is NOT an exclusive, did God of War III got a PC version? NO! that’s because it IS an exclusive! this is NOT and you bet this game will be on Xbox360 as well just think about it! PC=Microsoft… do the math!

I would be down with this whole ideal of monthly fees and yearly fees, if they were time based and not daily. Cause if the internet goes down or PSN is down then I’m losing money. Something like I’ll get 31 one day cycles in game for the monthly fee.
