Sony Announces Release Date for PS3 Sound System in Japan

07/06/2010 Written by Steven Garcia

So you’ve got a sweet, new, maybe 3D, HDTV hooked up nicely to your PS3, and it looks amazing, right? For most, a setup like that couldn’t get any better. But what if we told you that you were only getting half of your money’s worth, that not having a decent sound system translated into only having half the fun? You’d probably say we were crazy and reference back to the insane picture quality, but many would agree it’s true. Don’t worry, though, because as usual, Sony’s got you covered…
For the audiophile lacking enough room for a full 5 piece setup, Sony’s new PS3 Surround Sound System comes equipped with a built-in subwoofer and ready to handle a variety of audio formats, including Dolby digital, DTS, MPEG-2 AAC and Linear PCM. It won’t exactly raise the roof, but should come in handy while firing up that Blu-ray movie or catching up with your favorite shows via Hulu Plus when it lands this September 30th for $199.

  2. I’ve already got a sound system ( 7 speaker thx ) , don’t need a sony one .
I’m sure lots of people would buy this in a package deal with a tv and ps3 though and the price is ok

I am buying this as soon as it comes out. I am tired of big speakers in my small appt. The price is perfect for me.

This is would be a great setup for kids room that has the PS3 and 32″ HDTv. It would act like those full system sound bar for under the HDTv that some TV manufacturers including Sony sell for their TV’s.

I bought a Vizio Sound Bar with a wireless Subwoofer that sounds amazing. I got it from Sams Club for about $250.00

The bass hits hard without taking up too much space. I would recommend the Vizio over the Sony product.

But you haven’t even tried this “product”. No one has yet. And also, Sony’s current soundbars already beat Vizio’s by miles and miles.

  8. CMax420 says:

Im still very HAPPY with my Vizio, and for 50 more with a seperate wireless subwofer I think its a steal :)

    Maybe its just me…………………..

I have a sound system and I’m not using it recently. I used it too much and hurt my ears badly lol.

I have a vizio telivision and I love it in no way am I knocking vizio but the vizio soundbar is only 2.1 and this sony soundbar is 7.1 so I would definitely go 4 the sony in this Hi_def day and age.
