Despite it taking Sony almost 4 years to earn a profit on the PlayStation 3, their upcoming motion controller, the PlayStation Move, is priced to make profit from the get go.
Speaking with Develop, Sony Worldwide Studios head, Shuhei Yoshida, stated:
We are pricing Move as if we are launching a new platform. So because the install base of Move will help third party studios create games for it, we benefit by helping those third-parties. But we are not losing money with each one we sell.
The PlayStation Move controller will cost $49.99. Other peripherals can also be purchased such as the optional navigation sub controller and the PlayStation Move gun.
Will you be picking up PlayStation Move, and what are your views on the price point? Let us know via the comments section below.

Good for them, they are learning. Bad for us, we are paying, lol.
The price is good. I’ll buy Move for sure.
I always get confused with pricing, especially seeing as most news websites I visit are U.S based, but I’ll have to wait and see what the launch is like and more importantly how the move plays before I decide to purchase
appears the move is not priced to move. there are bundles available, but i’ve long since had the ps eye. at 50$ usd a pop, and knowing some of the hotter titles will need two, or at least the optional (really, optional?) nav controller, which i’ve yet to see priced, doesn’t seem like a deal to me in any way. hopefully some retailers will have special pricing deals. I’m looking at you sam’s club/wal-mart.
nav contoller is $29.99
The Navi should be included in a bundle with Move+PSeye, that’s my main complaint . I’m sure Amazon will have some sort of discount for buying together 2 moves + 1 Navi + PSeye or any other combination.
I have no problem with the $49.99 USD MSRP for the Move controller or the Nav. controller for $29.99 USD. It’s nice that we will have the option to use a DS3 instead of the Nav. controller for those that don’t want to spend that money. I’ll probably get two Move controllers and one or two Nav. controllers for versus play.
You don’t really need a nav controller, its awkward to use but you can use the dual shock as the nav, the left side of the DS3 is the same as the nav, d-pad, analog stick and 2 front triggers. Its an option for the people on the tighter budget who want more from the move
