While the PC version of Aliens Vs. Predator has received as many as 5 patches, the console versions for the title have only received one thus far. And a new patch, which was originally planned to be released soon, has been canceled, SEGA has today confirmed.
A SEGA representative confirmed the cancellation of the patch on the publishers’ official forum:
“I’ve just received a mail this AM regarding patches for the console versions of AVP and I regret to inform everyone that these have sadly been scrapped.I had previously made a claim that these were coming and at the time, this was very much on the table. For the console community, I apologize, as I know there are many features and updates that you’d like to see. I’ll keep fighting internally for this to happen, but until I hear otherwise, there will not be a console patch for either Xbox or PS3.”
The reason for the cancellation is not yet known, and this also comes after the shooters’ second map pack, Bughunt, was released only last week.
That is ok. I will just cancel my intent to purchase it (and the DLC).
Agreed. Poor support and poor community relations simply give people reason not to buy a game.
A very basic lesson:
IF YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE THE MONEY, DO THE WORK.
As with PC’s of old, next gen consoles allow for patching of games:
- upside is new functionalities and improvements
- downside devs can ship half baked products to us and try to get it working after we pay for it
me too. another cancelled purchase.
