Thor Hammering Down on Consoles Next Summer

07/21/2010 Written by Kishen Patel

Keeping it comical, Sega is set to release yet another video game adaptation to a Marvel franchise. Set to release alongside the upcoming Thor movie from Paramount Pictures, the publisher has revealed the release timeframe for the game which is, unsurprisingly, around the expected release date for the movie. But will this movie tie-in suffer the same fate as Sega’s previous “Marvel-ous” franchise or will the development be an “Avenger” of Thor: The Video Game?

Announced to release in the summer of 2011, Thor: The Video Game is expected to release alongside the Thor motion picture which is set to release on May 6, 2011. Similar to most superhero movies, Thor will be set in a third-person perspective environment with confirmed abilities such as thunder, wind, and lightening. Fans of the franchise will be delighted to hear that the famed hammer, Mjolnir, was given a proper introduction as well.

With the previous track record of the Marvel Cinematic Films, it is safe to say that Thor will undergo the same treatment as the blockbusters, Iron Man and Spiderman, but will Sega follow the same path as this summer’s Iron man 2 adaptation or will it be more of a Toy Story? Only time will tell.

    hello …

it’s been long since i’ve stopped torturing myself with such games, as a big fan of super heroes (Marvel/DC/everything …) I would really love to see a really good video-game based on them.

Batman saved the day DC side (no movie tie-in) & can’t wait for DC Universe to show some more…

For now, Marvel side i’m waiting for Spider-man shattered dimension (have Spiderman 1 on PC – was really nice, but not a movie tie-in) & really Thor would throw such bad port into oblivion with his hammer, yet it’s a move tie-in so i have little hope.

For now let’s go Marvel with Sackboy ;)

    cheers!

  3. Give it to Raven Software (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), they’d make a true product.
