Final Fantasy XIII Going Multiplatform…Again?

07/23/2010 Written by Joseph Peterson

When Square Enix decided to announce that Final Fantasy XIII was going multiplatform in both North America and Europe, it might have been the biggest shock of this console generation. In Japan however, FFXIII remained exclusive to the PlayStation 3. However, that may be changing very soon.

The Japan PS3 exclusivity may be over if THIS page over at Microsoft has any truth behind it. The page clearly displays Japanese version of Xbox 360 achievements for Final Fantasy XIII. For now this is still just a rumor, but the evidence point to Lightning striking twice on PS3 exclusivity.

That would be a complete waste of disc production. No one in Japan is sitting around waiting for an Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII.

  2. Agreed, but even more of a waste because your huge majority of buyers in Japan already have the game, so either Square is wasting money or Microsoft is wasting money cause… That’s really pointless no matter what.

  3. Blkant says:

Meh, no one cares if they get it :P As for FFXIII versus however… That sure as hell better remain a global PS3 exclusive >:(

  4. wtGp says:

probably need to recoup their losses on this terrible game even if it means producing on the xbox version in a region where no cares for that system

SE is insane if they release FF13 360 version in japan. Its like they are playing russian roulette with the gun fully loaded. The 360 has little to no market in japan.

    hello….

this is what we can call a bad, a really really bad move!

    cheers!

  7. I can’t say its a bad move. Yes, the 360 has a nearly non-existent presence in Japan BUT everything is done already. Not a lot of time and $ needs to be invested in combining the already completed Japanese text and vocals into the already existing 360 version. Not to mention, it gets hype up for FXIII again which puts the game back into gamers minds and could possibly even cause a short spike in PS3 version sales.. If they make any sort of profit off it, it works out for them. There’s no real ryme or reason not to do it IMHO.

  8. so we dont get gutted again on a version cause of there low capacity and power.

After playing that game for 15 hours, the 360 people are welcome to it. Egads, after enduring that mind-numbing tedium, even games I didn’t care for before seem exciting and fun now in comparison.
