LittleBigPlanet 2 Release Date Announced; Collector’s Edition Coming
LittleBigPlanet 2 has been generating quite a buzz ever since it was revealed during the weeks leading up to E3. That buzz is well warranted too, since it’s the follow-up to the award-winning game by Media Molecule that ushered in a new era of user generated content with Play. Create. Share. Sony has just revealed a release date for the hotly anticipated title, as well as details on a creative collector’s edition and some pre-order goodies.
LittleBigPlanet 2 will be launching in North America on November 16 (my birthday!) and a long with the standard edition, there will also be a collector’s edition (pre-order here) available packed with goodies all for $79.99. The contents of the collector’s editions are as follows:

A copy of LittleBigPlanet 2 – duh.

If you want some of that DLC, but aren’t up for springing for the LittleBigPlanet 2 collector’s edition, then you’re in luck. Depending on which retailer you place your pre-order at, you’ll be getting a different set of DLC costumes.
Pre-ordering at Amazon.com will get you a Ratchet and Clank sackboy costumes.
Pre-ordering at Best Buy or BestBuy.com will get you a Toy Story sackboy costume.
Pre-ordering at GameStop or Gamestop.com will get you a Tron: Legacy costume.
Pre-ordering at any of those retailers will also get you 4 different ‘Even More Animals’ costumes for your sackboy (see below)

I wonder how many of those DLC packs will be available for purchase on the PSN? I don’t really do collector’s editions anymore because most of them just haven’t been worth the extra money to me.
Holy S#IT.. now THAT’S a great F’n deal. Talk about, “getting your money’s worth”..plush toy, bookends, which is awesome idea…now it comes down to, HOW MUCH $$.. Then we’ll have a better idea if it’s worth the money.. but looks damn promising!!
That definitely is a lot of content. I may have to break my “no collector’s editions” rule for this, though I wish I knew the price. I don’t really care about the game ends or the plushie. My girls would probably love the plushie, but then the problem is that I have 2 of them, and only one plushie. I am all about the in game content when it comes to special editions.

OMG! I’m changing my Pre-order to THIS TONIGHT!
For eleven costumes, five avatars, a set of game-ends and a plushie, I’ll definitely say that an additional $20 is worth it for the Collector’s Edition. My girlfriend has been wanting a Sackboy plush forever now, so this is the perfect opportunity.
That being said, if you want this edition, you should jump on the pre-order train ASAP because apparently it’s going to have an incredibly limited run. I just ordered mine from Amazon.
I’m already sold on this. I swore off collectors editions, but this one has a real charm to it. I was pretty much sold as soon as I saw the plushy, the bookends are just a huge bonus. It’s nice they’ll include all the pre-order DLC, I’m sure they’ll all be made available on PSN after launch, but it’s awesome to grab all of them on day 1. I hope Beaker or the Chef come out soon after!
Assuming the costumes follow the LBP pricing model, the DLC alone is worth roughly $18 ($2 a piece for the licensed costumes, $4 for the animal pack). I say thats well worth the $20 when you add in the plush and ‘game-ends.’

Took me a little while to find too.
this is the first Collector’s Edition that has interested me in the slightest bit since I have been gaming…finally something more useful than an art book and “how this game was made” documentary or little action figures…Yes, it still comes with a replica of the character, but at least this plush sackboy would be a great gift for one of my nieces/nephews. I really just want the DLC (there aren’t enough games that give you extra “in-game” items in special editions) and the “game ends.” Things I can actually use in the game, and something that is just practical.
