Crytek May Make PS3 Exclusive

07/25/2010 Written by Paulmichael Contreras

Crytek, famous graphics gurus of such games as Crysis, were originally PC developers. They have since branched out to consoles, and while they have announced Codename: Kingdoms exclusively for the 360, that does not mean they are not still interested in developing an exclusive for the PS3 as well…

In speaking with CVG, Crytek President Cervat Yerli mentioned the possibility of working with Sony on an exclusive title sometime in the future:

“Sony is a partner that we would definitely love to work with. A [PS3 exclusive] is something we considered before – we talked about it a lot, but for reasons of portfolio or timing in the past it didn’t work out. But that doesn’t mean in the future it wouldn’t work.”

Mr. Yerli also mentioned that originally he was not in favor of working on a console-exclusive title, but something changed and now he is obviously open to the idea. Would you like to see a PS3-exclusive title by Crytek in the future? Given their track record, who wouldn’t?

Why not? They are obnoxiously arrogant.

  3. Nice way to win back those PS3 fanboys that might be upset that they are developing an Xbox 360 exclusive. Lets see, keep the fanboys thinking PS3 may have an exclusive aswel so when Crysis 2 releases and people are deciding which games they should buy this winter, they don’t take the 360 exclusive into consideration when deciding on getting Crysis 2.

People will say WTF to my above comment. But listen, I buy all my games and I buy a lot of them. However I’m not rich and I’ve rent and bills to pay. When it comes to buying games this winter I’m gonna look at all 10-20 titles available this fall. Buy the must haves like GT5, Socom 4,LBP2, Fall Out : NV and MOH. Then I’m going to look at the remaining games and decide based on a few things.

One of those things is the games developers. If the devs support the PS3 very fairly then I’ll support them back. But devs making Exclusives for a consol I don’t have, then they go to the bottom of my list.

I know how pathetic, but listen I shouldn’t have to buy 2 consols just so I can play every third party title thats available. What if the Kindgom turns out to be game of the year. That means I’d have to buy a 360 just to play it. F that.

  4. if it doesn’t suck like crysis sure. you need more then just graphics.

A MAYBE exclusive title to a story SUCKs, I don’t want to go gettin my little penis all hard over thinking that another company come out with a game for the console I love. I have a Xbox but just to play a few games. I play all PS3 exclusive games because I just love the brand. You can call me a fanboy but too my face you’ll be hushed like a baby. I’m just plugged in to a idea that PS3 has the potential that only a few developers have takin the time to tap.

would i like to see a exclusive by crytek? sure. but then again, any exclusive by any developer will surely strike my interest. i dont think 3rd party developers should make every game multi-plat. wether it be a monetary deal with msoft or sony or just because they want to make the best game possible on one specific piece of hardware. all ps3 owners are happy when we get exclusives from 3rd party such heavenly sword, mgs4, demon souls.. and msoft does the same with exclusives from capcom, epic , valve etc. its funny how gamers sometimes feel “betrayed” by some of these companies, but for them its just business.

As far as I’m concerned it was bashing where bashing was deserved, like their comments on free demoes though as far as games go, Crysis 2 looks quite good. It’s just a shame Crytek will most likely not release a free demo.

Betrayed isn’t the word. More like left out and I understand both consols get third party exclusives. However out of the 3 games you mentioned 2 of them were from the early days of the consol and Demons soul wasn’t exactly a third party title. SCE Japan studio and From software developed the game together using funds from Sony. Also MGS next title has gone multiplat and the Heavenly sword creators have gone multiplat too.

Ya see its all good Crytek coming out saying they may do a PS3 exclusive to keep PS3 fanboys sweet. But in reality making 2 multiplat titles would bring in way more money for them than making a seperate exclusive for each consol. Thats why I know that comment was just to sweeten up the fanboys.

Also I think all Third party devs should put an end to third party exclusives. You say betrayed I say left out. Yes at the end of the day these companys are only doing buisness. But at the end of the day for us aswel, we don’t get any of that money from those buisness deals. So why should we as gamers accept those buisness deals

I too am shocked by their attitude, I love their games but I am finding it harder to like them due to their attitude towards console games/gamers.

  10. Timewarp says:

Same here. It is hard to buy a game when the people making the game are treating us gamers like a bunch of morons who’ll buy any crap, you know like they’ve just got away with robbing a bank.
