Crysis 2 Invasion to Begin in March 2011

08/13/2010 Written by Jonathan Leack

So far 2010 has seen fewer first-person shooters when compared to recent years. Crytek’s upcoming sci-fi shooter, Crysis 2, was one of the most anticipated titles for the genre this year until it was delayed earlier this month. Now, Crytek has given the new scheduled deployment date for its sequel to the original Crysis on PC.

Crytek has just announced the new release date for Crysis 2. Set for March 2011, the North American and European versions will be separated by only a couple days. The official Crysis Twitter account states the following:

“Crysis 2′s new release date: March 22nd, 2011 in North America and March 25th, 2011 in Europe”

Crysis is just one of many games that have been pushed back from a holiday 2010 release date into 2011, likely to avoid market saturation and strong competition this holiday season. While this is disappointing for those anticipating the sci-fi shooter, the plus side is that in almost all cases more development time means a more polished product. The negative side – especially for us PS3 owners – is that Crysis 2 and Killzone 3 are now going to release within a month of one another.

They really should have pushed it back to April or May.

  2. SPD55 says:

They should not have pushed it back at all, because the world economy will be worse then than it is now. They will regret this in time.

  3. gonna save any kind of money i would spend on any FPS and maybe buy Killzone 3 and thats a maybe

  4. I’ll be too busy playing Killzone 3 to even care. Maybe I’ll get it when it hits the discount bin.

  5. JackC8 says:

Probably a bargain bin purchase for me, assuming it gets great reviews. I can barely make it to the end of the trailer without getting bored. That whole FPS in a ruined city thing has just been done to death already.
