Rumors of a sequel to Sony’s first try at the hendheld market with the PSP have been staggering for the past few months. Some rumors have pointed to a powerful piece of hardware that will employ powerful Nvidia based hardware, and some have even gone so far as to say that publishers have already seen the device. Whatever the case, Sony has continued to deny rumors and has once again done the same in a recent interview.
While being interviewed, Michael Denny from Sony put the PSP2 rumors to rest and showed confidence in the current generation of Sony handheld hardware. Denny said the following when asked about whether or not a PSP2 is in the works:
“We don’t have anything to announce and nor are we giving anything away if we say we’re always looking at the future as well.”
He then added:
“For now, we’re still concentrating on the PSP as a very attractive proposition.”
PSP2 rumors have been especially common ever since Nintendo announced it’s new handheld, the Nintendo 3DS. It’s certain that Sony has a new handheld device in the pipeline and it’s not far off to think that it might reveal a new device once the prevalent 3DS hype has settled down. Until then, Sony will continue to deny the rumors regarding what some believe will define the next generation of handheld media.

I really hope it will be a while before we see an actual successor to the PSP since I have got a PSP go last November for my birthday and I don’t want to have to upgrade to a system not too long after getting the previous version.
Now is not the time to reveal a new Psp…next year maybe and they better not call it Psp2 or add a 3d feature.
I would love to see a Psp where you can also play downloadable (from PSN) Ps2 games with specs between Ps2 and Ps3
If they (somehow) can make a portable where the WHOLE PS2 library is available, I have no doubt it would completely destroy the competition.
I really hope the bring a PSP2, because I really need one, my PSP 1000 is almost destroyed and I really need a PSP

Add a phone to the 3000 make it looks like the PSP Go and make it a touch screen but only for the phone part and you my dear friend Sony have just outsold the iPhone.
Oh and add a second joystick or something along the lines.
@themule
That would be great,but i see it happening just like Psp with Psone titles…not the whole library,only the most acclaimed titles releasing them each month kind of thing.Still that is acceptable
@gtamaster503
Exactly,a second analogue stick is a must for the next Psp.
i’ve always predicted the PS2 games will be made available for the PSP2, just think about carrying around your favorite PS2 games of all time in your pocket no one could argue a lack of games. and i would think all PSP games will be made able to be played on PSP2/PS3. even I say with the shear power this thing is suppose to have it will need that second analog no matter what
after seeing the tech the 3DS uses.
1) it isn’t that amazing (because it just uses Sharps double screen…thingy found in GPS, which now triple is available)
2) PSP2 can use the same tech (unless Nintendo has a specific patent)
I kind of lost interest in the PSP2 when it started sounding more like an iPhone than a gaming device.
