Mortal Kombat – Combos Exhibition Footage is Absolutely Mental

08/22/2010 Written by Zak Islam

Mortal Kombat is undoubtedly renowned for its over-the-top finishing moves known as fatalities. But the fighting series is also well known for the amount of amazing combos which can be combined to demolish an opponent. A video has emerged for the latest Mortal Kombat title and it shows off some mental combos that can be stringed together.

Mortal Kombat, which will be releasing on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is being developed by NetherRealm Studios, led by Mortal Kombat creator and creative director Ed Boon. Mortal Kombat will be supported by a new graphics engine and the deadly ‘Fatality’ in-game feature  is back and presented in more gory detail than ever before. Mortal Kombat also introduces several new features including tag team and the “deepest story mode of any fighting game.” Players can choose from an extensive line up of the game’s characters and challenge their friends in traditional 1 vs. 1 matches, or try out the numerous new gameplay modes.

In addition, Mortal Kombat will deliver the “most extensive online experience ever seen in a fighting game.” with a tag team mode allowing 4 players to participate and “Co-op Arcade Mode” where 2 players can team up. Adding to the list of already revealed classic Mortal Kombat characters, yet more new characters were introduced to the game recently. These are:

  • Liu Kang
  • Kitana
  • Kano
  • Sonya
  • Jax
  • Cyrax
  • Smoke

Mortal Kombat is currently scheduled for a release in 2011. For more information on the title, be sure to check out PlayStation LifeStyle’s E3 impressions.

So much testicular violence. Multiple nut punch, SMASHED. Kung Lao’s buzzsaw, need I say more?
Can’t wait to see more fatalites. Need to steal me some souls!

  2. Crueltea says:

Also, it would be completely sick with Move support. Just think about it.

That was crazy how they used music and voiceovers from the mortal kombat movie…..especially the screaming part of MORTAL KOMBAT in the classic song…..hopefully they use it in the game somehow?

WOW!! this is the best video footage I have seen on this game so far. Nice work PSLS!!. I hope they keep all that excessive and graphic violence in there and don’t have to change it much when the ratings board gets a hold of it. Other than that where do i Pre-Order :)

  9. mumbles says:

@ Anthony: thanks for removing that I clicked on it just for the hell of it and once I realized what it was I had to close it. saw enough of that crap in my high school years.

  10. NukeA6 says:

Nice music and it looks like MK has gotten away from those awful combos last generation and more into combos that existed in MK3 and MK2.

It’s definitely an improvement but it seems that the MK series always suffers from odd Motion Capture. I don’t know how to explain it…is as if all the characters move so…..stiff.

  12. BRUTAL!!!!!! Love this game!!!! Hope this games breaks all the standards in fight games (again)!
