GT5 Set to Start the Race with Hefty Install

PS3 Owners are becoming very accustomed by now you would think to Hard Drive installs but usually these come in at around 3-5GB. Upcoming racing giant Gran Turismo 5 will be upstaging the rest of the PS3 library with an install coming in at 10GB.
Don’t freak out just yet though as this option is indeed optional. However should you choose to sit through the install, Kazunori Yamauchi has promised players will be treated to a smoother experience. I would hope with such a large install that the game would run with zero issues and we will see when the game releases November 2nd.

I have a feeling that a day before launch they will say this install is mandatory! 10GB would take like an hour to install seeing as devil may cry took forever and was only 5GB.
At this point I’d install the entire game if necessary and I’m sure any true GT fan would as well. I just want to get my hands on this game. It’s gonna be so freaking awesome.

Ah yes put my 500 gb hardrive to use polyphony. I feel sorry for those who stood like idiot 360 owners with the default hardrive but still 120-320 better then 20-250. And yes I know 360 owners have no choice but to stay at default well that’s why their idiots.
@Rnnxie: It is not the owners fault that the Hardware is limited and priced at a point where it is easier to enter the next generation consoles. I blame M$…
I have to assume it will only be beneficial with a game this massive…I have never had a problem with installs anyway. You waited as long as you did for the game to release, why can’t you wait a little longer. If you are that impatient then you should be forced to sit in front of your TV with the START screen staring you in the face for 12 hours with your hands tied behind your back.
it took you forever with 5gigs? might wanna look into a new ps3.
Well with installs, comes faster loading, so it’s worth it if you’re going to be playing a lot.

changing hard drives was pretty easy and bought a 500gb for 45$.
640gig. Not freaking out at all. For anyone with a launch PS3 with a launch hard drive, you should have upgraded a long time ago. Do yourself that favor.
I spent 6 months playing GT4, so if I have to wait for a rather lengthy install on GT5, it’s certainly fine by me. My 500 GB drive has plenty of room on it
I certainly feel bad for those that have launch PS3 HDs. Right before I upgraded to 500 gigs, I only had 6 games and it maxed out my 40 gig drive.
My advice to those of you that still haven’t upgraded: It’s really simple to do and Amazon always has great deals on PS3 compatible HDs.

Well anybody who got a twenty gig harddrive was somebody that KNEW that stuff like this would happen so they just installed a 500 gig and called it a console gen.
I’m so much more glad I went ahead and bought a 750GB HDD
