Heavy Rain Move Edition Includes Extra Content

09/09/2010 Written by Adam G

In a bid to promote their newfangled Move controller, Sony are re-releasing a couple of their soon-to-be patched games and bolting on “Move Edition” to the end of the title. And whilst we thought that these re-releases would include the same content as their original counterparts, that won’t be the case with Heavy Rain’s new retail version.

In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, founder and president of Quantic Dreams David Cage mentioned that the Move Edition of his gritty interactive crime drama will include “about 45 minutes of extra video content”

“We dedicated all of the Heavy Rain team to this extension, so it’s not really something we did cheap. We did it right, we’ve added a lot of content, there is about 45 minutes of extra video content that’s really interesting. The team has done a really great job of this version, it’s something we really, really worked on.”

Sounds like the Paris based team are simply including more behind the scenes content rather than some extra gameplay chapters. If you already have the game and aren’t interested in these videos showing the transition from “press X to Jason” to “Move waggle to Jason” then the regular edition will be patched with motion controls when the Move Edition launches next month.

  1. so there will be a re-release of the game? a new physical box coming out or is this coming thru a patch.. i couldn’t understant..

but i am definitely glad that i waited to play heavy rain.. i’m buying it the same day i buy move.. i loved the demo.. i just had too many games to play..

but i’m all set for the fall.. Move, heavy rain, and medal of honor.. sweet..

  2. my bad.. i got it.. i was just so happy i skipped a line or two

  3. Thats cool…ish. I still get a little annoyed when late buyers get extra content, instead of people who supported it from the beginning, but at least its getting the Move patch (unlike you RE5! grrrr). Getting Move is a good reason to play through this game again, I think it’ll feel fresh and fun with motion controls, and I’ll probably wait for that to attempt a platinum on the game.

I feel exactly the same way. Like when I bought LBP day one, then GOTY edition came along and I don’t get any of the new stuff.

    hello …

I thought RE5 would get the MOVE treatment !!?

Oh, yeah that’s cool & too bad indeed that early buyers do not get some bonus.

I can’t wait for this patch & some MOVE controllers, i just hope they do fix the voice acting too someday LOL.

    cheers!

@Richy RE5 Gold Edition is getting Move, but the nromal one isn’t. Still not sure as to why tbh…

I want to get it, but not at $60.

  8. wait..so if we still have the original game…it will be patched so we can have the extra content…or do we have to by the Move version of the game? also, will the move game work if you don’t have the move. like is there an option in the move game to play with the controller isntead? IE I don’t want to buy the move just yet, but wouldn’t mind picking this game up again and dusting iit off…one of the best i’ve [played in a while for me.

    @Bigwhoopmagazine

And Bigwhoop has ounce again hit the nail slap bang on the head! As soon as I read 45 minutes EXTRA content I was annoyed. It seems Sony likes to reward doubt rather then Loyalty.

The PSP had extra things given away with the PSP Go, as BWM said the GOTY edition of LBP came with extra content (although the extra content can be purchased on the PSN Store it’s still a kick in the nuts) and now this.

Though I can’t help but feel like this makes anyone excitied about the new edition look like a sci-fi geek, you know “But this version of Heavy Rain has 45 minutes of previously unseen footage!” As if anyone is prepared to see the previously seen footage to get to the 45 minute cookie.

  11. I was looking forward to replaying this with the move (and still am), but an extra 60 bucks for an extra 45 minutes is just NOT gonna happen. Besides, the last time they offered new footage it was that taxidermist thing and was not as good as the main storyline at all.

Has anyone tried playing this game using the Move controller? Is it a lot cooler than using DS3? I just got this game and am thinking if the new controller is worth getting for it.
