Additional Details for Firmware 3.50 Revealed

09/16/2010 Written by Sebastian Moss

During Sony’s Tokyo Game Show Press Conference, the platform holder announced that the PS3 would be receiving a new firmware update at the end of the month, that would bring 3D Movie support to the PlayStation 3. Now, further information on what will be in the update has been revealed on the official Japanese PlayStation website.

According to an official SCEJ web page, the firmware, which releases on September 21st, will also give users the ability to report spam messages received through the PSN – something that has plagued the service since its inception. Additionally, 3.50 will bring an improved level of Facebook connectivity that will allow users to post the game that they are currently playing onto the site.

  4. Exovedate says:

How about facebook connectivity that actually works? They say they made it so you can fully use facebook on a previous update via the browser yet you can’t even do simple things like click to see additional comments.

  5. AoA says:

And yet still no ability to sort my downloaded games. Maybe with firmware 10.00

  6. @AoA

Sort your games how? I can sort my games. Have been able to for a long time. Can even do it on the PSP.

  7. wahhh we want cross game chat waahhhh wahhhhh

  8. I still don’t get what the big deal of cross game chat is…so lame.

pick up your cell phone and call your little friends if you want. Or text message, that’s pretty cool these days right?

  9. FiftyQuid says:

Dump the web browser. Contact Apple, or Mozilla, or anyone and get them to make a PS3 specific one.

  10. vesra says:

Opera ps3 please. and when are we getting a netflix xmb icon again?

  11. tazinlwfl says:

I want GoogleTV (or at least Chrome). I want real Flash 10.1 – and a decent rendering engine. I want XMB for the browser.

That, and I want a better method of sorting, and maybe one more tier or folders/albums…

That’s all I want. Everything else is fine for me (for now).

  12. tazinlwfl says:

And about the people hatin’ on XGC, it doesn’t matter if YOU want it or not, enough people are asking for it, it’s sincerely disappointing for them not to include it, or even give us a timeline…

  13. KwietStorm says:

That’s it? I thought Netflix might be in there. And I don’t know what it’s gonna take to get a sorting feature in the download list.

  14. giese095 says:

honestly jimdude, call your friends and get over the cross game chat nonsense. It’s been overdone

  15. wtGp says:

    press the square button

  16. lemulot says:

LOL, seeing all those who complains about the crappy web browser made me wondering where they were when the OtherOS support was drop? Firefox and a descent open Flash player do exists on Linux you know… and a plenty of other apps too ! Nah… forget it.

  17. WestSiide says:

    Netflix integration please. Nothing more.

  18. Iyashii says:

Netflix integration is going to happen, some time in late October, if I remember correctly.

Aside from that, XGC would be nice, but not required.
It’s a nifty feature my Girlfriend and I could use, but I’d rather have other features before that.

    Like a better browser.
Not Sony’s fault, though, since they didn’t make the damn thing.

Still beats the 360′s browser, right?
    Oh wait….

    xD

  19. Silenus says:

    Mwahahahaha!!!

Now I can tell everyone on Facebook when I’m playing Barbie’s Great Dreamhouse Adventures.

    Did I just say that?

  20. nemo20000 says:

Music browsing by Artist/Album/Tracks, with 2D Artist and Album listing.

That’s all I want. Still waiting after three years.
