What You Should Buy With PlayStation Move

09/17/2010 Written by Anthony Severino

The PlayStation Move launch is upon us. Planning on picking one up today? Make sure you’re prepared. We’ll tell you what you should pick up to get the most out of your PlayStation Move and why.

The first thing you’re going to want to pick up is the PlayStation Move itself. If you’re new to the PS3, be sure to pick up the 320GB PlayStation 3 Move Bundle. This bundle comes packed with a 320GB PS3, Dualshock 3 controller, PlayStation Move controller, PlayStation Eye Camera, a copy of Sports Champions and a Move demo disc.

If you already own a PS3, but don’t have the PlayStation Eye, the PlayStation Move Starter Bundle is for you. It comes complete with the PS Eye, a Move controller, Sports Champions and a Move demo disc. If you already own the PlayStation Eye, all you’ll need is the PlayStation Move controller and a game or two to try it out.

What about the Navigation controller? Skip it for now as not enough games utilize it. The Nav controller is a luxury purchase that just makes things more comfortable and easy to use. For now you can just use the left side of your Dualshock 3 or SIXAXIS.

Instead of getting a Nav controller, we suggest you get another PlayStation Move controller. Having two controllers for single player use in Sports Champions is an incredibly immersive experience. It also doesn’t hurt to have a second controller around for multiplayer either.

Sports Champions is a must own title that will help you get acquainted with and really test out the PlayStation Move controller. It’s easily the stand out title of the bunch of launch titles, so it comes as no surprise that it’s the title Sony chose to pack in with the PlayStation Move Starter Bundle.

If you’re big into local multiplayer,  parties, or want to get your non-gamer friends and family in on the fun, Start the Party! is a great overall choice. It features fast, fun mini-games and augmented reality that will easily impress any casual gamer while providing hours of fun.

If you’ve got children in your household, EyePet is a great title. Kids will love their new furry, friendly companion.

We also suggest you pick up a PlayStation Network card, so that when you get home with your brand spankin’ new PlayStation Move and games, you can also pick up some of the PSN titles already available for the Move. Right off the bat we recommend Tumble. The simplicity of the game’s block building quickly turns into mind-bending puzzles. It’s also a great way to show off the PlayStation Move controller, as using it in a 3D plane to pick up and place down blocks is quite impressive. Then there’s a few other titles to choose from depending on your tastes. Hustle Kings, High Velocity Bowling, and Planet Mini-Golf all have received patches for PlayStation Move support and are each an equally enjoyable time.

So, now that you’ve read our recommendations, what are you getting with your PlayStation Move? Let us know in the comments below.

you know wat, I say to hell with ALL the full disc games. I just picked up 1 move controllers and 1 nav. I’ll pick up more move controllers down the track but this will do me for now. I’ve already got a few games which are patched to go and I bought tumble and Flight Control off the store.

Those 2 games are more worth it. Don’t even really need the 2nd move controller right now.

For what its worth, all the demos are in the European store…in case you already have the PS Eye and didn’t get the demo disc.

2 moves and Sports Champion for now, then wait for Time Crisis Razing Storm! and I already downloaded the demos for Tumble, Eyepet and Racket Sports, also I own already Hight Velocity Bowling and Hustle Kings! Im gong to have a great Move time! :D

If I were to buy Move now, which I won’t…I’d stick to the already released hardcore games (RE5, MAG, Heavy Rain) and some PSN games that are adding support like High Velocity Bowling. But that’s exactly why I’m not buying Move now…it’s not enough for me, so I’ll wait for Killzone 3 and other games next year. I’d rather spend my money on a Racing Wheel this year, no money left for second plates and sadly that’s what Move is on my table right now.

Hey! I just bought my move package! Can anyone tell me if RE5 and Heavy Rain already have the move patch update yet in the states? Cause Ima run and get RE5 if it already does.

  8. Skipping out on Sports Champions unless the demo really impresses me. If it doesn’t then I’ll probably get it when the price drops a bit. Definitely getting Tumble and looking forward to trying out HVB, MAG and Heavy Rain, which I tried out at E3 and was really impressed.
