The fallout between publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward is one of the largest industry disasters in recent memory. When a game like Modern Warfare 2 makes millions of dollars in profit and in-turn half the staff of the development team is let go only months later, you know something went terribly, terribly wrong. Rumors have surfaced that the creators of the Call of Duty series will have nothing to do with Modern Warfare 3, and one Analyst has predicted that Activision’s latest acquisition, Sledgehammer games, will instead take over the developing duties this time around.
For those of you unfamiliar with Sledgehammer games, both Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey from EA’s Visceral Games left the company to take over at Activision’s latest creation around November 2009. It was originally believed that the team was working on a third-person shooter for the franchise, however it was later confirmed that it will indeed be a FPS, which Janco Partners’ Mike Hickey thinks will be none other than Modern Warfare 3.
We believe Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released in fiscal ’11, likely developed by Sledgehammer Games, and could sell in excess of +18 million units.
Excess of 18 million units sold? That would be quite the feat, and it makes you wonder what Infinity Ward has cooking in the kitchen.
Call of Duty 4 is simply the best
Enough said
@PS3vsXBOX360
Agreed. I compare it to Socom II all of the time. They both represent a great game amidst a franchise that ran it’s course.
Bloc and “trainyard map, forgot name, too lazy to Google” were both great maps. I got more for MW than when I traded in MW2!
The kill streaks are what killed MW2. IMO

Agreed on all comments. Why oh why did I loan CoD4 out to that jerk?!
indeed it is the best. l’m just mad that l sold it, l’ll get it back eventually
Disagreed on all comments! 4 is good but MW2 owns it. Can’t wait for MW3!
Enough Said!
said truly like one who favors whatever is on top at the moment.
Anyway, “likely developed by Sledgehammer Games” ??? They plan to release it next year and they aren’t 100% sure? I thought the entire point of having multiple developers working within the same franchise was so that each game could get a 2 year development cycle. CoD will go the way of Guitar Hero if they start trying to push one out of a developer in a year.
they’ve released a cod every year since `03…
Activision is trying to push this out before they loose the lawsuit by former IW creators. In the lawsuit they are asking to get back the IP that IW owned before they were bought by Activision, if they win that part you may never see another title with that name. But time will tell.
People will buy COD no matter who makes it because they are suckers.
