Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition Announced, EU PS3 Owners Lose Out On Best Collectable

10/13/2010 Written by Zak Islam

Originally leaked by Amazon, EA has officially announced a Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition, with a whole slew of exclusive downloadable content and even the entire Dead Space Extraction game. Unfortunately, one of the best collectables provided with a game – a replica Plasma Cutter – will not be available on the PS3 in the European Union, and is coming exclusively to the 360 and PC.

As announced by EA, included in all versions of the Collector’s Edition there will be:

  • Dead Space 2 game
  • Downloadable Unitology Suit and Force Gun, providing Isaac with unique benefits when used in Dead Space 2.
  • Dead Space 2 Original Soundtrack on CD; features an hour of music compiled from the game’s score.
  • Concept art lithograph depicting Necromorph transformation by Visceral Games artist Brett Marting.

Exclusive to the EU PlayStation 3 pack only:

  • The critically acclaimed .  See how it all began in the PlayStation® Move supported prequel to ,Dead Space ExtractionDead Space available for the first time in HD.
  • Downloadable Rivet Gun for use in-game.

However, the exclusive bonus content for the Xbox 360 and PC only is:

  • Replica of Isaac’s trusty Plasma Cutter, modelled from the new design from Dead Space 2.

During the opening stages of 2010 developer Visceral Games asked fans “IF we were to put out a Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition, what would you want to see in it?” The sequel to the popular franchise from publisher Electronic Arts is currently scheduled for a release on January 25th, 2010. By pre-ordering the title you’ll be rewarded with Dead Space Ignition.

Are you upset that the Plasma Cutter is coming to all versions of the game in North America, but only on the 360 and PC in Europe?

  1. This is not right, not right at all

That is the EU, maybe we’ll get the gun in the gun in the US.

  3. Paranoimia says:

So no Plasma Cutter in the EU PS3 version. Wonder why that is?

My first thought was a cheque from Microsoft, and that is still my main suspicion; though I would have expected a pay-off to be for global exclusivity, and not just in the EU.

Still, we’re getting Extraction, which I guess is the better deal… though a Plasma Cutter would have been cool.

  4. North America guys: Don’t worry, the plasma cutter comes with it on PS3. The guys from Visceral made that pretty clear on the Facebook fan page lol.

    Why has S U S P I C I O N been censored in my previous comment?!

  6. murdamazzi says:

Gamestop still shows Limited Edition with Extraction for $59.99 that’s all I really want out of this anyway. A lot of these limited editions are not nearly as good as they look the toys are usually cheap and who really sits around and listens to videogame soundtracks lol!!!

  7. Max Murray says:

DAMMIT! I want a plasma cuter more than I want children.

  8. raljiktar says:

I couldn’t care less about the cutter, i want Extraction with move support. So what will Canadian’s get? Guessing same as US, a cheap toy and no extraction.

  9. ZombieHell says:

Plasma Cutter is a must own
