SURPRISE! Gran Turismo 5 Delayed, Coming This “Holiday” [Update]
After making such a big deal about the release date at this year’s E3, SCEA has confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available on November 2nd.
Yes, you read that right. Gran Turismo 5 won’t be making its November 2 release date, but thankfully Sony is still pegging it for a “Holiday” release.
In an official statement from Taku Imasaki at the US PlayStation Blog:
“We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.
We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.
We’ll have more information for you in the near future.”
Thought it was for real this time, but it was too good to be true. While no specific release date has been given yet, hopefully this won’t hurt Sony later this year. Especially after the delay of LittleBigPlanet 2 and DC Universe Online, does the PS3 have any killer apps this holiday? At this rate, Duke Nukem Forever might actually come out BEFORE this game. Expect more news from PlayStation LifeStyle as it arrives.

SCEE has confirmed that this delay will affect Europe as well.

Well, technically, it isn’t delayed ‘again’ – this is the first delay, since we never had any release date prior to E3.
But it’s no less frustrating.

damn i am glad i am not into GT or i would be really pissed, its like a bully holding your stuff over your head and making you reach for it and right as you can grab it back, he has a growth spurt and your forced to wait longer. hopefully for you GT fans you will get your game real soon, barring any further delays.
Is Sony losing money on these delays? And yes, they are delays. I’m sure Sony wasn’t like, “Hey Yamauchi-san, we know that GT5 is one of our biggest killer apps and we are in for a serious fight against Microsoft and Nintendo unlike the previous two generations, so y’know have it ready whenever or something. No rush.”

as someone else said, technically this would be their first delay since they had just announced their ‘official’ release date. whenever ever it comes out it’ll be great so whatever.
Can’t say I didn’t see this coming. I decide a long time ago to not believe whatever release date they announced. I’ll believe the game is coming out when I have it in my hands.

Isn’t it weird that 4 big games are coming out at November 2. 3 of which are ps exclusives. I’m pissed but knowing that I’m buying assassins creed brotherhood (the multiplayer beta was awesome), my wallet would be pretty much happy.
Well it’s okay actually cuz black ops is gona keep me busy while waiting for GT5. I’m sure GT5 will be crazy. Graphics are sick and no game can compare.
