In just under one month, Sony’s PlayStation Move controller has already made a stunning impression upon the European market. Its successful launch has bolstered sales to such a great start that production on the hand-held devices will need to be increased to keep up with the demand.
Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe’s Andrew House, told Bloomberg that they have seen “very significant sales” in Europe within just the first month, which puts the staggering figure around 1.5 million units.
“The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we’ll probably be looking at accelerating production.”
With these early statistics, motion-based gaming is anything but dead. Now since the Move is showing such strong potential, perhaps we can expect to see more developers gain confidence in building quality Move titles.
Thanks to Sony’s success, we can start looking forward to more awesome commercials from our man, Kevin Butler.

and right now most of the appeal is for casual gamers…just wait until SOCOM 4 and Killzone 3 release and show the Move’s real potential for casual and hardcore gamers alike…Time Crisis next week!
wow that is staggering. Christmas isn’t even here yet either, and while I’m sure part of these figures is in anticipation of that, it’ll probably get much higher as the holidays close in on us.
Another full-screen pop-up advery from PSLS? No thank you, I’ll not be coming back.
really? cause I feel like half the other gaming sites I go on do it to… I guess that extra click is a whoooole lotta effort though.
I picked up Move earlier this week with MAG and RE5…enjoying those and some of the games on the demo disc are pretty good too.
The one stand out game for me though is tumble….such a fun game.
BEAT THAT Wii!!!
BEAT THAT KINECT!!!
not bad. wonder what the figures are in the u.s.
I hope kinect sells next to nothing. I hope there isn’t enough 360 fanboys to make it a success. Back on topic though, I hope sony doesn`t just give up on this like they did the eyetoy. I`m considering getting one but still not sure. Might get it just for LBP2 though (preordered the collectors edition!).
I kinda hope a friend buys it so I can try it out – I think I pretty much know how that’ll go because I played with a PS eye toy before, so its probably just going to make me giggle over what a waste it is, but nonetheless, I’m curious to see if theres any real improvement over eye toy.
And IGN said it sold slowly
THAT’S AN INSANE AMOUNT OF CONTROLLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heavy Rain!!! sold that much. World Wide!! Bravo Sony!!!!
and this is only in europe imagine all around the world
