Sony has officially announced price drops for the PSPgo in both the United States and Japan. The portable gaming device will see a drop from $249 to $199 this month.
According to Reuters the somewhat disappointing (due to its large price point) PSPgo’s price will be cut to $199 from its original $249 price in the United States. Additionally, Japan will also receive a price drop for the PSPgo from ¥26,800 to ¥16,800 ($207).
So, at long last, the PSPgo sees a price drop. If you have yet to purchase the system will this price drop change your mind to pick it up? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
Ill just wait till the PSP2
NO I have a go since launch. Felt that the price was good since it was different and reduced electronics and extra system storage.
But this could be a signal that PSPv2 is coming sooner rather than later. Or at least the reveal could happen at CES 2011.
Official word is out. hardware specs to follow. apparently psp2 release will be around fall 2011.
no. im not big on portable gaming but im really curious to know what the deal is on the psp2. if just until recently the price of the pspgo was only $50 less than a full on console, i can just imagine how the psp 2 is going to be priced so i probably wont be getting one either. one thing wrong about sony is that they never get the pricing quite right so that everyone picks up theyre new hardware soon after launch.
I dont think this has anything to do with a psp2. This is strictly trying to get sales out of a poor selling handheld. I have a psp go. I think it is way better than a regular psp (i have one of those too). My complaint is the software pricing is still too high, we need app development, the browser still sucks, and the battery life is a little dissappointing. Those complaints go for all PSPs.
They price isn’t the main problem. The problem is the lack of downloadable games for the system.
I notice PSN is missing alot of PSP titles for download and thats the main reason I refuse to get a PSP Go as I rather get a PSP 3000 and have the entire PSP library access to even though it means carrying around UMDs.
yes, just in time for my bday. will be easier on the womans wallet now. XD
Yeah ill wait for PSP2, if they had the 10 free games for the NA version i would consider this though.
bring it down to $99 and then we’ll talk, I’d rather get Move…
I think everyone’s point pretty much sums it up. Poor sales from having such a high price, getting a bad rep from not having enough download-able games and rumors of the PSP2. Add all those up and you have an overpriced device that nobody is going to care about in 2011. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lowered the price again within 4 to 6 months.
