PlayStation Move Sales Ignite October Like Wildfire

10/26/2010 Written by Jonathan Leack

It has been almost six weeks since the PlayStation Move debuted in Europe and America, and six weeks of low supply has ensued. Consumers hoping to purchase Sony’s new motion controller have been disheartened by the “Sold Out” signs posted around every corner. With over 2.5 million units sold and a new frontier opened in Japan, is PlayStation Move spreading like wildfire?

Since PlayStation Move’s release, consumers have been reporting low supply of the peripheral at almost every major online North American retailer. In addition, both Amazon as well as GameStop have thrown up “Out of Stock” warnings which can be seen below.

Is this due to low supply and shipment from Sony? Or is the PlayStation Move’s positive reputation preceding it into stardom? Post your response in the comments below.

Yeah, my investment of 4 Moves has paid off. It works so damn good and precisely. I’m glad they’re implementing PS Move support in first party games like Killzone 3 and Socom 4.

  4. I say that its doing pretty well. All the stores I see got no move contollers abunch of navs and a few sports camps bundles

i think is doing better then what everybody was thinking, MS can spent $500 million on just marketing for Kinect but Sony can spent the same amount getting games done for the MOVE, i can’t wait to get mine this friday n is just going to get better

  6. Sony probably underestimated how popular Move would be, probably due to the EyeToy being a flop last generation, and now they’re busy ramping up production to meet the demand.

Anyone notice the update for PAIN yesterday? PS Move support. It’s crazy how many older games are getting new life with this thing. I bought one last Monday.
