Nathan Drake Charts Novel Territory in 2011

10/28/2010 Written by Corey Schwanz

While we’re all sure that Uncharted 3 is definitely happening, the official title looks to still be disputed. With the movie still in the pre-production phase, what will you do for your fix of Nathan Drake? Fear not, he’ll be hitting bookstores near you.

Currently slated for release in the Fall of 2011, the series’ first novel will be titled Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth. The author of the project is Christopher Golden, whose repertoire has the eclectic mix of titles such asĀ  The Ferryman, Strangewood, The Gathering Dark and a slew of Buffy The Vampire Slayer adventures. An official summary from Del Ray Publishing says:

“Nathan Drake will embark on an all-new, original, action-packed adventure-in search of a secret that will put him on the trail of the legendary labyrinth of Daedalus, and take him from the ruins of Crete to a secret crypt deep in the heart of China!”

How will this fit in with the rest of the series? It won’t actually. A spokesperson told Kotaku that “It’s a standalone adventure, intended to not impact the continuity of the game stories. It’s not necessarily a prequel or a sequel.” So while it doesn’t fit anywhere else with the canon, that doesn’t seem like a bad thing. This way the author has free creative license with the characters and it won’t potentially ruin anything for the rest of the franchise. Are you excited? The more Uncharted the better, I say.

Personally, I’d rather see an Uncharted comic book. I just don’t have the time to read novels and I already have six or seven in my backlog.

l would prefer it be cannon for l’m not interested if not. They could do anything they feel like just because they aren’t tied to the story, might as well have created a new novel without using the uncharted characters as a crutch

I never got round to finishing the 2nd game..
