Return to Castlevania in 2011 with Two DLC Packs

12/23/2010 Written by Adam Wolfe

Just two months ago, the new Castlevania was released, and was met with universal high praise. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow takes the series back into the 3D world; its mix of fast paced fight scenes and platforming was just the formula gamers had asked for. Now, it looks like fans will be able to continue their experience with Gabriel.

Teased some time ago, the DLC for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has now finally been revealed, and given a general release date. The first DLC pack will see Gabriel returning to the castle to assist Laura against the unruly evil that was once kept in check by the Vampire queen Carmilla. This pack is titled “Reverie”, and will release sometime in February.

The second pack is a lot bigger then the first and will continue the story, as players will be given insight into the epilogue you got to see when you finished the game. They also promise a final showdown with a notorious enemy. This pack is titled “Resurrection” and will be hitting the PSN sometime in April.

No price has been given yet, but with Konomi promising all new areas, monsters, and brand new story lines, it should be a great pickup if it’s reasonably priced. In the meantime, get ready for the DLC by working toward the Lord of Shadow platinum trophy with our official trophy guide.

Sounds great! Can’t wait for this game to get even longer than it already is.

  2. Sweet! Give us some new abilities too and it’ll be perfect.

It sounds great, but a little too late I think. Hopefully they will release a Special Edition including both DLC missions or something like that.

That’s what Greatest Hits games usually get. Or is Castlevania not that popular?

I think you meant Game of the Year editions, most Greatest Hits games don’t include the extra stuff. The majority of games lately have been becoming a “Greatest Hits” reducing the price to $30 and then soon after they release a Game of the Year edition for $60 that includes all of the DLC

Castlevania hasn’t sold well…that’s why I think they should release a special edition just like Capcom did with RE5 and who knows maybe that could spark sales a bit. The game is very good though, even if I still felt it lost focus on the last 1/4 of it.

I wanted this kind of DLC packs for GOD OF WAR III so much! A game that everybody loves, sold over 3.5 million already or so, DLC packs would’ve sold like hot pancakes! It would extend the life of GOWIII and make the wait for God of War 4 ? more bearable. But I guess they thought Ghost of Sparta for PSP was enough God of War for a year…and no, playing the game with a different skin is not enough for replay value, I want more God of War III goodness damn it! Too bad the rumors about a fighting arena DLC and the “lost” epilogue were false :( :( :(

Very underrated game. I hope the DLC is just as proportionately lengthy as the main game.
