Late last year, the European PS Blog announced that an official PlayStation App would be coming to the Android and iPhone mobile operating systems. No word was given on a US version, but now it looks like it’ll be a matter of time.
When the PlayStation App was announced on the EU Blog, nothing was said about a US version. Considering no comment was given at all, no denial or affirmation of the service, that itself sometimes IS a confirmation. On the final post of the year on the US PlayStation Blog, Jeff Rubenstein talked about things to expect in the next coming months in his territory. Someone asked about the app moving beyond Europe and Mr. Rubenstein said:
We’re going to be working on this after the break. I don’t have a date for you now.
Sounds like an unofficial confirmation if I’ve ever heard one. Expect more information to come in the next few months, but rest assured, all signs point the app coming stateside.
Personally, I think this app would be useless if it doesn’t allow messaging through PSN as well, but then again, that is quite a load for them to handle. In any case its nice that they are doing it still
I just really hope they don’t hold back on the features, and expand the PSN as much as they reasonably can
messaging is one of the things i’d like to see, along with store access and remote downloads. in any case, an official app is welcomed.
the application is pretty much pointless to me the way it is, but if they added PS Store access and the ability to start remote downloads I would be all over it. A friends list, and even messaging friends through PSN, on my phone isn’t necessary for me. But good for those who will appreciate it and good for Sony to continue expanding the Playstation brand.
I wonder who could have had the know-how to ask such a brilliant and necessary question.
This app needs to be able to chat with people on the PSN network!!! Their are already psn apps a total of 4 that I see.
Sorry didnt finish hit that submit button to quick, anyways this app would be the only one that would have a chat feature… most of the other apps have the ability to see whos online and their trophy status.
