L.A. Noire Unveils a Murder Mystery this May

01/25/2011 Written by Adam Wolfe

Over the past few years, if you visited any message board and looked at gamers lists of most anticipated games, L.A. Noire would likely be near the top of many lists, and this was with minimal information on the title. So with new videos and screenshots being released over the past few weeks, it should be no surprise that the hype is at an all-time high. Looking to increase the hype even more, Rockstar has finally given us a release date.

Even though there was a leak of the trailer that included the release date over the weekend, gamers have waited for confirmation from Rockstar, and today we got it. L.A. Noire will finally be hitting store shelves May 17th in North America, and May 20th in Europe.

L.A. Noire looks to bring video games one step closer to real life with the use of a brand new technology, MotionScan. Using 32 high-definition cameras, MotionScan capture every detail of an actor’s face. This will present players with never before seen facial animation that can capture the smallest nuances, and even give players the ability to read the in-game characters lips.

Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games, had this to say about the upcoming crime thriller:

“L.A. Noire breaks new ground for us. Its intense blend of action and real detective work defies genre conventions to create a unique and captivating thriller.”

Check out L.A. Noire when it releases in May.

  1. Oddly enough this game is coming out rather soon for the amount of trailers we have. Three and one of them is a teaser and none feature game play.

Yes, while the trailers and, what they are calling the in game cut scenes look fabulous, I for one would like to see some actually game play. Because I don’t think people are going to go out and spend $60 on a game that’s only should cut screens.

Wow, some people obviously haven’t followed this game. Team Bondi (founded by ex-Getaway Producer) were producing this as an PS3 exclusive slated for an early 2009 release. As soon as it went multi-platform, we’ve heard less. There were trailers from 2008 just to let you know in black and white (noire)

Most of the time the differances between the versions are only noticeable if your looking for them which to me is rather sad as you’d think people would be concentrating on how fun the game will be rather then “RAAAA, THAT 360 GAMER HAS A SLIGHTLY BETTER LOOKING GAME THEN ME!”

I welcome the game to the 360 as it means more sales for Rockstar plus we still have Agent. It’s ok as long as they don’t succumb to accepting payouts from Microsoft and bring out 360-exclusive DLC. If they do trust me when I say I’ll be the first to bludgon them to death over it.
