It’s been years since a proper Mortal Kombat game has released, but this April NetherRealm Studios has you covered. With a return to classic gameplay, Mortal Kombat is aiming to please fans of its nearly two-decade old series that has been ridden with controversy. If you’re a fan, or just want to see Cyrax, Kung Lao, Jax, and others in their full-HD glory, then take a peep at some of the latest gameplay screenshots to emerge.

The latest screnshots of Mortal Kombat are below.

Mortal Kombat will be available on April 19th in North America, while Europeans will get fighting on April 18th.

Is anyone else a little disturbed by the fact that you can see the back of the ribcage of the woman in the 3rd screenshot? I don’t know who she is, having never played a Mortal Kombat game, but given that she’s capable of beating up a muscled man WHILE handicapped by high-heeled boots, I can only assume that she’s a fearsome warrior.
So why can I see the back of her ribcage? Why doesn’t she have muscular lats covering it? I mean look at her triceps. She clearly doesn’t neglect upper body work. So why are her lats so pitiful? She needs to do some pull ups, man. How can she expect to lift dudes twice her body weight if she neglects working her back muscles?
I dunno, it just seems like a warrior would want to undergo a full body work out, not some strange work out that ignores the back entirely. If I had a daughter, I sure as hell wouldn’t let her undergo a workout regime which isn’t well rounded. Presumably this woman’s father is also a warrior (assuming we know anything about this character’s background. Again, I’ve not played Mortal Kombat). What kind of warrior would allow his daughter to ignore her back muscles?
Whatever. I know I’m nit-picking, but this is really ridiculous. I don’t think I’ll be getting this game. Besides, the fact that we see the same character (white rimmed hat dude) getting beaten up in half of the screen shots speaks poorly of this game’s balance. What, is he so crappy that getting his ass kicked in only a single screen shot isn’t enough?
I mean I hope it’s good. No reason to wish misfortune upon it. But I’m just not liking what I’m seeing.
