Uncharted 3′s Nathan Drake to Uncover Exciting New Gameplay Options

If there’s a video game developer out there that knows how to consistently improve, Naughty Dog is an instant nominee. It seems like every time the studio releases a new title, it’s not only more impressive than the last, but shows how technology can be utilized to create memorable video game experiences. Example: Uncharted 2‘s snowy cave sequence. ‘Nuff said, but can a game as impressive as Uncharted 2 be beat? Naughty Dog seems to think so.

The latest interview with Naughty Dog has uncovered some exciting new facts about the gameplay additions coming in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. When speaking with Community Strategist at Naughty Dog, Arne Meyer, he was able to share the following:

“…the key ones are the new melee options and an expanded repertoire of stealth movement, one of which sees Drake jump from above for a silent kill. I’m personally excited about the new brawling moves, which let you take on many enemies at once and use the environment, whether that’s grabbing a chair, slamming an enemy into a wall or removing their gun and dispatching them that way.”

He continued:

“We’ve also taken a look at the traversal gameplay and made some improvements there, many of which are physics based, so objects react more realistically when Drake climbs on top of them.”

Along with a more open world, Naughty Dog is aiming to make Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception bigger and better than the previous two award-winning titles. As if the animations in Uncharted 2 weren’t enough, Arne Meyer even shared that the development team is working to smooth them out, as well as introduce dozens of new options. Looks like we have a masterpiece in the making folks.
