Sony Relaunches Marketing Campaign: Only On PlayStation

Everybody by now should be familiar with Kevin Butler and Sony’s “it only does everything” phrase. The marketing campaign started when the PS3 dropped down to $299 back in August 2009. Sony has announced plans to update their marketing campaign to reflect what 2011 has to offer.

Industry Gamers recently interviewed Sony senior brand manager, Scott McCarthy. In the interview, McCarthy revealed Sony’s new slogan: “only on PlayStation.” McCarthy emphasized that their earlier slogan “it only does everything” was geared towards selling hardware, and “Only On PlayStation” will be about selling software. As McCarthy said in the interview,

You know, LittleBigPlanet 2 led us off; then we’ve got Killzone 3, SOCOM, Infamous 2, Twisted Metal, Uncharted, Resistance… the list goes on. And that’s excluding Move specific software. For the gamer there’s a lot to look forward to, and for the Move consumer there’s also a lot to look forward to.

Sony’s lineup for 2011 will definitely have the punch McCarthy says it will. Let us know what you think about the new slogan in the comments below.
