Nanosuits and Weaponry Abound in Crysis 2′s Multiplayer

03/06/2011 Written by Tyler Minarik

Crysis 2 is lining up to take some shots at the competitive FPS market, and it’s time to find out what’s going to set it apart from the rest of the multiplayer shooters.

Crytek has made it quite apparent that they’re confident their upcoming sci-fi shooting game is going to be a huge success, and it’s time to find out why. They’ve released trailers detailing the features of the multiplayer portion of the game, and hopefully it’s enough to set it apart from the competition. Every player in the game is going to have a nanosuit to assist them in battle, granting special abilities that will allow for new tactics in battle. As players progress, various augmentations will unlock according to play style, tailoring the upgrades to each person’s preferences. To compliment that, they’ve included cool weapons with a slew of customizable options.

The combination of stealth action with special melee maneuvers and high tech weaponry looks like a lot of fun. We’ll have to wait just a little longer to find out if it’s enough to blow away the competition in the flooded FPS market, since a demo is coming on March 15th, and the full game releases March 22nd.

  1. This game does look pretty dang good.

The Call of Duty style upgrades is getting old….when can we go back to being proficient at aiming to be a skilled player? Eff the fantasy perk system. I don’t want fairie slippers that make me run faster longer, or a sneaky maneuver that lets me perform a “2 in the pink — one in the stink” attack.

Overall it still appeals to me.

    Happy Gaming!!!

let’s just hope that the first impressions IGN had from playing the PS3 multiplayer won’t be anywhere near true about the final version…for those of you who didn’t read that article it basically just said that compared to the other versions the PS3 multiplayer demo had a ton of graphical issues

Well, Crysis has themselves said more than once that Crysis 2 on PS3 will surpass Killzone (Keep dreaming), and that they have not had any problems with making the PS3 version. They have also said that Crysis 2 will be better or atleast the exact same as on 360…
If they do not live up to what they have said during development, then I will not buy their game.

Crytek is full of it. They contradict themselves. The game cannot be equal on the 360 and PS3 and still look better than Killzone 3. There is no 360 exclusive or multiplat that even comes close to the level of graphic fidelity as Killzone 3.Or Killzone 2 for that matter.

If I were you guys, I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Crytek seem to blow a lot of smoke and from what I have seen/played of the PC version, while it looks nice on PC, the game was boring to play and bland to look at.

I downloaded the demo for this off Steam. Not sure what all the hype is about. Has nice graphics but was pretty boring to play.
