Following some cancellations out of Japan, developer Irem has confirmed that the highly anticipated Steambot Chronicles 2 has in fact been shelved. In a letter to their fans, the company gave thanks for all the support over the years and apologized for the bad news.
Irem continues by expressing hope that despite this news, gamers will continue to support their future titles which include Doki Doki Suikoden for the PSP and Pachipara Slot: Pachislot Super The Sea Tale in Okinawa for the PS3.
The original Steambot Chronicles released on the PlayStation 2 in 2006 and developed a great following of fans who are no doubt disappointed with this news.

Damn it…
I love ‘Steambot Chronicles.’ It’s one of my favorite games, and I complete it at least once every year. I’ve been extremely excited for the sequel since it’s announcement. I didn’t mind waiting, since I’m very aware that Irem isn’t a huge developer, but for them to outright cancel this is certainly a blow.
At least I can see the reasoning behind cancelling ‘Disaster Report 4′, but this….I really wish I knew why this got the axe.
