Natural Disasters in Japan Might Delay NGP Launch

04/05/2011 Written by Cameron Teague

The NGP is one of the most talked about electronics in recent years, but its imminent launch might be in jeopardy. Due to the major earthquake and following tsunami in Japan, Sony’s handheld might not release worldwide before the end of this year.

Speaking with Bloomberg, Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton stated that the NGP might only release in a single region before the end of 2011. He stated:

It may be the straw that says ‘maybe we get to just one market by the end of the year. A delayed launch may give developers more time to create games for the platform.

No word from Jack on which region would see the release first, but since Europe got the Xperia PLAY, it’s only fair that U.S. gets the NGP. Agree or disagree?
