Insomniac have released new screenshots and a video for Resistance 3, with both showing us night time firefights and boat rides through chimera infested waters. The video in particular is nearly eight minutes long and, like any good video, ends with a tease.
The guys and girls at Insomniac are really stepping up their game as the trailer features improved graphics and some very nice looking water effects. After seeing this trailer you might think twice about slowly going down a river with fog surrounding you.
Until the release, check out the trailer and screenshots below.
Resistance 3 releases exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on September 6th.
Looks amazing, this game looks like a very atmospheric game with a intense story. Very much looking forward to this!
Damn! I love the screenshot on the top
I need this game! Me like.
SIDE NOTE: The level shown in the video is probably one of the types of levels I hate the most in games. Protect this or that while we stupidly move through enemy territory and increasingly difficult enemies attack. All while whoever is with you yells out every enemy that comes at you . . . . but does nothing to help. Even games where they guy calling out the enemies has a gun . . . . he never does anything.
I just jizzed my pants a little… Just sayin’
The game looks solid, but is this really what drives audiences to FPS these days? Every Resistance game has great single player campaigns (and don’t hate on R2 since that game has a great single-player even if it doesn’t match the brilliant R1, it’s still lots better than most popular FPS single player campaigns in my opinion). But is such effort to make games like R3 worth it? I believe FPS enthusiasts are driven by 2 things: mind-blowing graphics and/or multiplayer gameplay. Resistance never had either and I doubt part 3 will be any different. A great game no doubt, but totally misdirected. I wonder if Crysis 2 is doing any good, that’s another game with a strong single player and it’s got graphics to spare. FPS with underwhelming graphics but engaging multiplayer : Halo, Left 4 Dead, and COD MW2…
Oh, and Killzone 2 and 3…they’ve got the graphics alright, but they’re not very popular because of the controls more than anything to do with its multiplayer quality.
Resistance Fall of Man had a GREAT GREAT GREAT multiplayer and a GREAT single player to match. Resistance 2 fell short of both. Resistance 3 look like its going to have a killer single player, but lack the multiplayer to match. The Resistance series lost it identity when Resistance 2 was released. Resistance 2 implemented too many features from other FPS, especially Call of Duty 4, and lost what was so special about the original. While Resistance 3 is bring back some of the features from the original, it is still lacking the main features for online and at the same time keeping those unwanted features from other FPS.
Resistance 2 and 3 is another perfect example of forgetting your original fanbase and trying to attract the fanbase of the most popular games out there.
That trailer was amazing but what was up with the boat driver he kept getting the boat stuck in ice, he is the worst boat driver ever.
I don’t like how each gun doesn’t look its own.
Loving the return of the weapon wheel – I don’t care if its unrealistic that he’s carrying 8 guns at once, it’s just way more fun having that selection at your disposal.
Weapon wheel = awesomeness.
Glad it’s back.
You can tell each gun has had it’s improvements while staying close to what they look like.
I’m liking the new Bullseye.
And for those who are complaining about Resistance series not being a good FPS, such as the above mention of CoD and Crysis 2, I cannot even fathom your logic.
CoD is bland and repeatative, though I always like the constant upgrades/goals associated with Prestige.
Crysis 2 is a full blown CoD+Halo, so that pretty much sucks.
R3 is going to be a pre-order for myself, and probably my girlfriend as well, and the Resistance series is by far my favorite FPS series, though R2 multiplayer was hectic and shitty.
