Uncharted 3 Beta Kicks off With Fireworks

04/18/2011 Written by Cameron Teague

Uncharted 3 won’t be releasing until November 1st, but that doesn’t mean that you have to wait almost 7 months to get your hands on its multiplayer experience.  An open beta has been announced and should “teach us a lot” says director Justin Richmond.  With Uncharted 2 having such a great and rewarding online battle, we are not sure what more Naughty Dog needs to learn but we won’t argue with getting our hands on it this early.

For those that paid their $50 bucks for a PlayStation Plus membership or $60 bucks for inFamous 2, the beta will be available starting June 28th.  Those gamers who do not meet either of those requirements will see the beta launched July 5th for everyone.  To get us even more pumped, Sony has also given us a new trailer showcasing deep character customization and also some new screenshots.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on November 1st.

  1. YES!, Another reason to be a plus member. This just keeps getting better and better. I cant wait to play this.

That first picture is a bit unsettling, lol… but hopefully that’s a new stealth takedown animation, one of the things I didn’t like in Uncharted 2 was the stealth take down where Nathan jumps on the enemy’s back and snaps their neck.

And I hope that custom characters doesn’t mean there won’t be DLC with Helghast or Cole McGrath

Sucks I’m not a Playstation Plus member but it least everyone gets to play the beta eventually so I’m happy.

  6. ZombieHell says:

Awesome. I knew Infamous 2 would have the beta. Just like the first one that did Uncharted 2

So why is it Naughty Dog looks to kick but again with the current generation of hardware and Crytek is crying that they needed 8GB of ram to make Crysis 2 look better on consoles?

  8. SICK. I actually played both betas up through level 40 for Uncharted 2, I was so obscenely addicted to them. Almost a guarantee I’ll do the same with these. I’m still disappointed that hardly any of my friends ever went and bought it, so hopefully I can convince them to pick this one up rather than another Call of Monotony.

The beta will basically go in the same order as the socom 4 beta did.

    Private beta
    PS+
    Free to every1

But then again i could be wrong :D .

MAN!! Naughty Dog was NOT kidding when they said that Uncharted 3 was going to be the go-to game for online multiplayer on PS3. The customization looked amazing and nearly limitless! The graphics have been improved. That’s one thing that’s awesome is being able to have awesome graphics even in online with PS3 exclusives. Both Killzone 3 and Uncharted 2 are examples of that, with great graphics even when playing online. Plus, I liked how you’re playing on moving set pieces when playing ONLINE!! That, to me, could revolutionize the way online multiplayer progresses within the next few years. Games’ single player experiences will be extended into the online and they’ll be merged together eventually, I think.

  13. the song was an awesome choice and the customization looks really cool.
