The Official PlayStation Magazine has made its way to subscribers today; resulting in a batch of new intriguing details for Team Ninja-developed Ninja Gaiden 3. Publisher Tecmo Koei provided the magazine with details including the hack and slash game featuring 60FPS, possible Move support and more.

OPM had the following new details on Ninja Gaiden 3 (courtesy of NeoGAF):

  • Blood is back
  • Difficulty level won’t be toned down for casual gamers
  • There will be both competitive and cooperative modes. One or both will support up to 8 players
  • The store is gone
  • Weapons will upgrade over time
  • Greater emphasis on story
  • May feature Move support

The full quote on the PlayStation Move support for the game reads:

Most intriguingly, Hayashi promises a mulitplayer mode offering head to head combat, and suggests Gaiden 3 may feature Move support.

Hayashi said:

We want to bring out the best parts of the Move in this game.

Ninja Gaiden 3 was officially announced during a press event in 2010 at Tokyo Game Show. The third installment in the series – until now – had only received a teaser image of protagonist Ryu Hayabusa. The game itself will show players Ryu’s human side as the character embarks on an adventure which sees him descending into a hellish realm.

Ninja Gaiden 3‘s release date is currently unknown, but as the game will be shown at this year’s E3 a launch confirmation could be unveiled then.

  1. Sweeet. Now I just need to finish the first two games…lol.

    NG deserved a great story

As a hardcore NG player, I want the difficulty and skill set to be left untouched. If they go as far as changing the staple 360 degree combat I’m gonna be really pissed. I’d really like to see some change in direction, though. All levels in the first 2 games play almost exactly the same, especially part 2. They need to add more platforming to the game, but not just for the sake of the game having some sections were timely jumps are needed and that kind stuff (in part one, the horrible camera made those sections a living hell many times). For intelligent combat-platforming they would have to -once and for all- fix the damn camera and adjust the precision of Ryu’s running/jumping. Besides that I would gladly see ninpo powers better integrated into combat and combos (same thing for throwing weapons). And last, but not least, make an epic story with badass fleshed-out villains like the ones the classic NES Ninja Gaiden games used to have.

I can’t wait for this to release. I’m so happy that I’ll be attending A-Kon 22 June 10th-12th in Dallas, TX this year because Team Ninja will be there with a playable demo! Woot!

Ninja Gaiden 3 sounds like it’s going to be a awesome game. I hope we hear more about Ninja Gaiden 3 at E3 this year.

After the dreadful camera in number 1, the second was awesome and still sets the 60fps bar that still not many developers can seem to pull it together with. It will be interesting to see whats next.

  7. Move?? They’re making a game I can use my Move with?! O. M. G.

Multiplayer Ninja Gaiden sounds pretty awesome too actually, especially with 8 players at once, sounds nuts.
